What can I do with my PS3 for the next couple of weeks, because I only have enough money for the 60gb system I want on amazon, and nothing else. What can I do with the PS3 to pass the couple of weeks until I can get a game?

When I got mine, I passed up the free game for the extra controller.

So I had nothing and was pretty busy at the time to even put a dent in gaming.

But I tried Demo's, also ... you can always rent.

Lots of demos to try out from PSN, could install linux and grab a few old school console emulators and replay some classic games. Scrounge the local places for discounted games for ps/2/3 you havent yet played (gotten some great deals in my scavenging)

Yeah like the previous posters have said demos can pass the time pretty good. Uncharted, Folklore, GT and Devil May Cry 4 are especially worth your time. And if you can spare 5 bucks Mortal Kombat II is great.

Or for $5 more you could get symphony of the night. that game is fun no matter how old it is and how many times i played through it. working on umpteenth time now.

Someone said something about installing linux and playing classic games. How do I install Linux and how much do these games cost? I just need enough to amuse me for 2-3 weeks, which is when my 360 will come back from repairs, then I can sell it and get a bunch of PS3 games.

Two words: Downloadable Content

Trust me, sometimes when I'm bored, or having a garbage day of Call of Duty, I'll just boot up one of many demos and mess around for a half-hour or so, before moving onto the next demo. Honestly, there are a bunch of great ones that will also give you a taste of what games you may or may not want to get.

My personally suggestions:
Resistance: I loved the demo, and later loved the game
Uncharted: Gives a great taste for a FANTASTIC game
Skate: If you're a skater or into sports, it's a lot of fun
NFL Tour: You'll probably hear a lot of people disagree with me here, but I find the demo surprisingly addictive and fun, however I can see where the full version would be shallow
Bladestorm: Like NFL Tour, I found this fun, but don't think i'll get the full version
Devil May Cry: This is a sweet demo, however I still havn't decided whether I'm going to get it

Anyways, I'd start with some or all of those (in no perticular order) to suit your taste, but there are a ton of others that I've undoubtedly forgotten to mention. Hope that helps.

I was in the same boat as you except I got one on launch day and all I had was 2 demos to choose from, resistance & nba 07 for crying out loud. You have one at the perfect time to be an owner and there are a sh*tload of demos and games to rent right now. Consider yourself lucky to be in this spot.

Didn't you make similar post about it yesterday?

Anyway DEMOS give you great content. I play them regularly in order to determine if the game is worth my $$.

Good stuff and it's free :D
