I can't believe this....

I recently moved into my dorm and i get a NAT 3. Which basically means I can't play online. Which basically means Im going to have to tarde my awesome ps3 in for a 360. I really like my ps3 too....

That sucks.. why do you have to get a 360 though?

MW2, thats why i have to get a xbox. xbox online works at the dorm. Thats what my RA told me atleast.

Not sure what school your going to but with the money you pay for a dorm youd be better off getting a part time job and some other people and get an apartment. I stayed in the dorm for 1 semester, it was a 15 foot square brick room, more like a jail cell, or what I would imagine one being like, not to mention the rules, then rented a 2 bedroom apartment with 3 friends which made rent like $150 a month a piece. Best decision I ever made in College.

I know when I was in college living in campus apartments just last year, my 360 worked without any problem, but the PS3 couldn't connect online until I registered my mac address with the campus network staff. I don't know too much about networking, but maybe that would work? It took them a while to get it working, but then it worked without a problem.

I would stick to the ps3 with other great games, such as GOW3 you will regret it terribly later on.

Well I talked to the IT department and they weren't any help at all. They don't use MAC filtering anymore so I can't do that. I talked to some guys on my floor and they said their 360 worked online so it looks like a ps3 issue.

or you could just buy your own modum and hook that up so you dont have to use the schools internet service... im just saying

Yeah a xbox 360 can get NAT3. You need to check your router ports, open the PS3 ones, possibly reset your connection.

I have nat 3 on my ps3 too. I tried everything to try and fix it. I can still play online just fine and stuff but I'm too scared to buy a mic

Hmmm, NO

NAT = Network Adress Translation

Basically translates 192.22.55.77 into www.whatever.com

NAT 3 is strict and will block certain IP translation types or something like that. I'm also too lazy to google :D
