wow sorry to hear that dude :( but since the 120 is just a romour ( i tihnk its false) and even if it is true it for sure wouldnt come out till november or later since the MGS4 bundle is coming out soon so i say sicne you have exams wait till june 12th and buy the new bundle ( i personally like the gun metal colour) but if you wait that long you iwll also have to wait for GTA 4 which sucks.
and about the tv i would say maybe just buy a 36" or something. and go with a good tv like sony or samsung dont go cheap.
or just screw it and buy a 40" again and im sure oyu could find a good one for less then 2.5k
Dude...honestly you gotta phone the company that made that stand and ask them for some kinda payment.. Cause I dont really thing they can sell a stand with faulty wheels.
Sorry to hear btw.
I seriously think that you can get some money back from the dudes who made the piece of **** stand.
Then again you can always threaten to sue since their stand cost you 'round 3k in damages.
ummm.....ok.....wow.......way to be an a-holeoh boo hoo im crying
well its your own damn fault

ok... maybe im just nit picking but has anyone else noticed a few things odd with the post? a lot of info left out and some conflicting material. IDK maybe im just looking at the read wrong.Ok so yesterday I had come back exhausted from training and got out of my car and I wanted to play Oblivion really bad. So when i went inside the hous, my parents were out, and I went into the living room (where my PS3 is) and I couldn't move.... What i saw was shocking....On the floor lay my SonyBravia XBR 46" completely shattered!!!!!! You know what else happened? I found my PS3 completely destroyed! I could not believe it! All last night i was like O_O !! I looked around a bit more and I think i knew what happened....The stand(one of those multi-media stand thingies) that the HDTV and the PS3 were on was frigged up, one wheel was crippled completely and my guess is that that wheel went faulty which resulted in the HDTV and PS3 toppling over, resulting in the HDTV crashing ontop the PS3!
I was so shocked! I still have the games, yeah, but That HDTV costed me 2.5k of savings and my parents paid the rest....I bought the 60gb PS3 at launch...and now their both destroyed. I asked my parents if they'd buy another HDTV and a PS3 and they were like all No that their going to instead put the old TV we had and that I have to take "responsibility" and stuff. Sorry if this is off-topic a bit (might get locked lol) but i wanna know what I should do. I have about 3k in savings and was wondering if I should wait for the 120-160GB PS3's or even the MGS 4 special edition one....and a HDTV lol
My PS3 was special to me lol and now I don't have it nemore....and i have exams coming up soon too :(

That's horrible. First off, I'd find out who made that stand. If it has some kind of guarantee, call them up and ask nicely then not nicely then threaten them with legal action and internet complaints unless they replace your stuff.
Also, talk to Sony, maybe they'll be able to help you out.
Also, i understand why your parents wouldn't buy a new HDTV (it's expensive, duh), but giving you bs about taking responsibility for a freak accident is incredibly stupid and bad parenting.
There is no indication that there wil ever be a 120-160 gig PS3. You should get the MGS4 bundle if you can't get a replacement as it is an 80 gig unit and looks awesome, and pass on the HDTV until the fall and get a smaller one (a lot cheaper). That would give you plenty of money left to put away and save for your future.
Let's give an example. Assume that you have 3k now, and you're 18. You invest that money, and an additional 1k each year until you are 65. You get 10% interest per annum, compounded annually. You'll end up with 1,223,764.79 at retirement. Then you can buy a bloody holodeck if you want to and do nothing but play games for 30 years.
Why does everyone keep saying call the company that made the stand? It sounds like this person didnt read the label on the stand for the maxiumum size of the tv. Once again I have never seen a stand that says for sizes 40in and up. It always says for tv's up to a certain size or weight. Like I sad earlier it sucks about your tv and PS3, but it sounds like you didnt read the label.
Lol yea guys it does suck...really bad and it really did have like a retarded sticker on it saying 42" + I'm guessing it was a cheap retarded brand seeing as how it came with the hdtv as a "special", so I bought it with the help of my parents. The stand didn't really have FULL-ON wheels it was like. mini-mini-wheels, small enough to make it a bit adjustable. From what I saw, as i said, the hdtv fell ontop the ps3 and the top was really frigged up on the PS3...I did manage to save the HDD but I had already backed up my save games on my PS3 like 2 days ago....I might have lost about 7 hours off of oblivion but it's ok....
I actually thought the stand had the warranty as still valid, but it wasn't. We did phone the store we bought it from and they said they'd sell us a wall-mount instead for a reduced price and same goes for the hdtv (we bought them as a duo from that store). Right now as i said, i gots 3k in savings. The wall-mount would cost I'm guessing around $100, A proper HD TV....somewhere around 2k and right now, I have an 80GB PS3, but it's not really mine. My friend is going away for a bit (like 1 month....) and he said I could use it...so he gave me it.
I'm gunna wait for the MGS 4 bundle though...in 1 month time it'd be May and 1 month closer til the MGS 4 bundle is released....
[QUOTE="samfoote"]While you wait how about buying a different console e.g xbox 360, wii, ps2 or even a handheld?Darkblyth
DONT SAY XBox in the fourm topic
Hahaha, I'm only loyal to Sony...lol
did you check your home insurance? it'll take a percentage you'll have to pay but it's better than paying 3000+ $ (maybe you'll pay 10%), you'll have to make up something (earthquake, oven explosion ...) to explain what has happened though.TheTenth10
Oven Explosion? Lol nice. I did phone the home insurance company and they said they can't do anything and to phone the stand company....which completely BSed me. The stand company were a-holes. They didn't want to take the blame and said it's apparently my fault for "not maintaining the stand in good condition" and that the stand wasn't designed for 42 " + TV's....hence why i was pissed.
Sorry for your situation. Just fixed my HDTV when it wouldn't turn off myself so I sort of know your feeling. Are you sure your PS3 is out of order? they are pretty tough and unless your TV's frame smacked right into your PS3 I think it may have survived (although in mighty bad shape). If it's still under warranty Sony may be able to fix it for some fee (which may still result in less money than buying a whole new unit by itself.)
Usually those TV stands comes with weight limit and if your tv is clearly below the limit you can try the customer support again and threaten to sue them and see what they says, because that clearly constitute to false advertisement if used fairly.

I'd read their user manuel to them line by line and say that I have proof of what was on the stand before and after the accident. Ask for their name, ask for managment and his/her name. If they still don't want to play, say that you will report them to BBB (Do so! the company may elect to respond to you ro reslove the dispute), or if you want to play hardball, say that you will bring this up to a lawyer and see them in court.
I'm gunna phone Sony and see if they would take it in and in return give me a reduced price off of a MGS PS3....lol i really want 1 though...... I tried to use the PS3 (with HDD and everything inside but of course....dented rele bad on the top) and it would SORTA run games but it freezes like 5 mins into Oblivion and remains frozen for about 10 minutes...and it makes odd noises.....so I'm scared to do anything to it... The HDD is intact though....nothing seems wrong with it...although the freezing on the XMB and in-game points to the HDD....I dunno lolxXxArchSagexXxThere's a good chance Sony can fix this so you don't have to dish out for a new unit. Best hope on your dealing with that stand maker (BBB is your friend).
you really should check your home insurance (or your parent's), they may replace it all and keep 200-300$ or 10% but it's better than 3500$ thrown out of the wondow, any way you can fill their form and see what they say ; in France they really bleed you dry and try to get away paying nothing I'm sure in the USA they're betterTheTenth10He already did, and thanks for bringing up the dead thread when you didn't even read the entire thing.
