You can play at sites like Google and Yahoo. But for those that need things like Windows Media Player or itunes, you can't. It's a no brainer that Microsoft and Apple wouldn't let Sony, their rival, use their programs.
YouTube works fine here since the PS3 has support for it. WMV and Quicktime probably won't work at all, since the PS3 doesn't support it. Try short YouTube clips.
