The realistic and only sensible thing to do is contact Sony. Sony made the faulty system and they should fix it, and you do have every right to blame and be mad at Sony for distributing hardware that is faulty. Please don't listen to the brown nosing fanboys who love to blame it on the consumer. God forbid anyone talking bad about a billion dollar company like Sony! So good luck to you "jacob_garnaut" and I hope you call Sony so you can get it fixed...AND again, ignore the fanboys who are trying to defend a billion dollar company over a consumer like you who put money and trust into buying expensive hardware. Piece out!

My 80 GB just ylod last night. The funny thing was it did it a few times (cutting off mid-game) but now it won't turn on. I'm deciding whether to get it fixed or buy a new one. Unfortunately, my receipt has gone missing.

I suggest performing a backup then calling Sony. Yea it sucks if it is a hardware malfunction, it may be something simple but weird as corrupted data. If it is a hardware malfunction then Sony will replace the console for free if you are under warrenty or for a sum (i don't know how much) if you aren't.

Also, to hating Sony though, the same thought could span across all businesses that sell products. When you make millions of consoles there are bound to be a few that are broken, but it could have been handled roughly by the people that shipped it, or where it was stored, etc. So many factors could influence an electronics failure.

TC, you need to call sony so they can fix your ps3. It should be common sense. We're not sony and we can't fix it for you. Sony customer service is great so I don't understand why you would hate they. They fix any problem for free.

Yes yes blame Sony, becuase nothing is allowed to break down and everyone must be perfect every second. Anyways, the thign is broken, call Sony. you'll get a system back in a week, possibly 5 days.

Mine has frozen here and there a few times. Recently my PS3 froze like 3 nights in a row. It's been fine since. Other than the times it has frozen on me when I'm on Youtube. I think it may be a heat issue, I'm honestly not sure, it's random at best. I feel your pain though, it pisses me off when it happens.

I could say the same thing about your first post.

Don't blame Sony if you're not even going to call 'em for help... I haven't seen this happen to many people at all, and I'm sure they'd be glad to help.

TC, you may need to call Sony. Since Sony is going to reformat your HDD (if you change your mind and decide to have Sony fix it) So my advice is before calling Sony up, backup all your data and then try reformatting. If you are still having this issue then it is a hardware issue and you will have no choice but to either call Sony or buy a new PS3. IMO I would call Sony. Hating them won't get you to far in fixing your problem.
