Who wouldn't buy it. I was dissapointed with the grahics of ff7 since playing ff8, and did not understand the game ending one bit! We don't need a remake of ff8 but we should for ff7 for sure! I can imagine a 2007 release.

What do you think?

Actually the original FF7 graphic was pretty good. The only reason it looks so bad is that because you compare it to a PS3. Cmon man, you compare a PSOne to a PS3

No, I was comparing the original ff7 to the ps3 ff7, not the systems. For the sake of argument I prefer the ps3 version. I'll like the airship from the game either way though.

I think everybody yurns for a FF7 remake...I think it's easy cash in the bank.. Guranteed sales over the million mark in a few weeks. I'm not sure why they wont do it...the business incentive is there.

No thanks, stupid overrated turn based RPG games bore me to death.

There is already like 10 FFVII spinoffs coming out, enough already play other games.

yeah you know.. you got a point there... there's already the PS2 one and the PSP one..
and the movie..
but heck.. I'd still love to see a remake... I loved that game.
I mean didn't you see those graphics? *oogles*
and considering it's a "tech demo" other than the Unreal 3 demo it's the only other one we know
for sure was real-time.
I dunno if you've played the original FF7 but it was a GREAT game with a GREAT storyline...
it would jsut be all that much more enhanced with amazing CGI Quality graphics throughout and voice acting..
along with more cinematic cutscenes.
Sega is remaking Phantasy Star on PS2 from scratch with new graphics.. so why not remake FF7 on PS3?
They remade many of the old FFs... though they didn't like improve the graphics and make them from scrath other than
maybe rewrite the script for some of them and add in the Pre-rendered CG...
but heck yeah.. they can do it! And I'l'l bet it'll sell more than a few million copies easy if it turns out at the quality
of the tech demo.

Classic Games should just remin classic games, sequals are fine, but let them be, Remaking a classic will never be as good as the original cause u already know the story & outcome.

Yet, there is also the certain novelity of a re-release of FFVII. If they ever did a re-release, I would imagine it be like their "Final Fantasy Anthology" where some graphics were updated, if I am not mistaken. I would much rather them make a new world whose story is equal to that of FFVII's in sheer OMG-ness. I doubt that will happen though, as all RPG characters seem to get more and more cliche'...

YEAH well I dunno..
I kinda played FF7 more than once and enjoyed it the 2nd quite a bit too...
You know since they are remaking they would be remaking the game from scratch there's always room for some rewriting of the story here and there...
Same exact way they did for the Lunar games..
Like I can jsut imagine it...
Right when you think Aerith is about to get stabbed again by Sephiroth... Cloud jumps in and saves her...
takes the stab himself maybe and it puts him out of commmision while your forced to fight Jenova with Airith and the two other party members you were with...
Wouldnt that be a big plot twist?
anyways.. My point is a number of things could be done..
Also as much as I'd like to see a completely new FF game as well I still think a remake would be great..
since it's still the best FF game in a lot of peoples opinions.

yeah, I would really love it too..
but what the president of SquareEnix said during the launch of PS3 dissappoint me quite a bit.. they have no intention on remaking it or whatsoever..
but the line that they say they are going to full support sony on their PS3 makes me think,
if PS3 sales flop, they can ask square to remake FF7 as PS3 exclusives and that might make a lot of FF7 fans buy PS3... :P

Hey, you must be kidding me. Final Fantasy VII has the best plot in the whole series. When I first played it I felt like reading a novel. And as for the ending it is completely clear. Hoever I agree that a remake is needed but not for the purpose you mentioned

I'd love a remake of FF7 if it was like the tech demo shown at E3. Also, they should include a disc with a nice documentary about the game and how the original influenced RPGs and the game industry as a whole. I'm a sucker for special features. :)

I agree with re-releasing the game for the PS3. Don't quote me on this, but if I remember correctly, in the Japanese version there was like a section of the game removed for American release. It involved bringing Aerith back from the dead. But anyways, if they remade it they could make a huge amount of money. Fans would flock to the stores just to play the game with updated graphics, voice acting, new CG's and various other things. They could add more about Cloud's past or something like that. They could also make the last battle a little more strategic than what it was. *SPOILER* You basically just sit there, waiting to see your limit bar go up first, then you use your limit break and win. My first thought then was WTF, that was easy *SPOILER END* Hmm probably didn't need the spoiler notice since its very unlikely that somebody hasn't finished this game. Anyway, they could add more strategy to the final battle.

I believe that all these remakes for Final Fantasy VII will only cause problems to the original Final Fantasy VII. What do you think?

Square-Enix is probably working on it right now. Eventhough they said they weren't going to do it, Square is known to be very secretive. Plus they're working on 4 titles that revolve around FFVII. Crisis Core, The Before Crisis, Dirge Of Cerberus, and Advent Children. The Tech Demo could have very well been a hint that they will re-make it. I mean fans all over the world have been begging for a re-make, Square has given us the titles listed above. Sadly THAT'S NOT WHAT WE ASKED FOR. Personally I'd rather see it re-made.

I sure hope they don't remake it. No need to butcher a classic, leave a classic. The character designs were what made it unique. Besides its still way to early to re-release FFVII.

A re-release of FFVII would be great. But i don't agree with voiceacting, unless if Cloud didn't speak a word in the entire game (and that would be very weird). Anyway, Cloud was a very mysterious character, if you remember well, he hadn't had speeches all game long.
But it would be great to have more parts where you can controll Sepphiroth.

why would square-enix waste their time remaking ff7 when they can just make a sequel to it. i, for one, would much rather prefer a sequel than a remake since i already know everything that happened in ff7. i prolly wouldnt buy ff7 remake just for more prettier graphics. thats just my opinion.

ya know I'm gonna sway from the croud a little bit, and say that I would much rather see a FFVIII remake then a FFVII remake. Call me a sucker for a love storey, but Final Fantasy VIII was much more emotionaly driven, and the gameplay was much funner. Interactive attacking, and Limit Breaks. Again call me a sucker for a love storey, but I think Final Fantasy 8 had much better story telling then Final Fantasy VII's overrated garbage. I loved the game and all, but take it from me (someone who has played through the game 13 times... yes 13 complete playthroughs)
I have played through 8 probably half of that (only becuase my copy was stolen by a stupid friend of a brothers(I think)... I just havn't go around to buying it again)
Final Fantasy 7's dialogue sounded more and more cliche' every time I played through, and got even that much more boreing to read (good dialogue just doesn't get boreing [Xenogears anyone?])
Sure the characters were great, but without good dialogue the character were just blah. Maybe if they redid some of the storyprogretion, and rewrote a lot of it, I would like it more, but it just didn't emotionaly capture me, like 8 did)
8's dialogue seemed much more down to earth, like reading an actual book, I don't know about anyone else, but I hate Novels that are fluffed with exaggerative words, that really are unneccesary( I'm not saying 7's was like such a novel, just makeing a point)
It also seemed more believable... which sounds crazy when I hear myself say this, but 8's storey seemed like fantasy mythology derived from a true to life story. the Characters were real, the emotion was real, and the music just helped to excel both of those. Btw, the music in FF8 was(is) just great. I'm listening to it right now. It really reminds me of old 80's artsy rock (it almost seems as if 80's genesis material was the music artists main inspiration) Listen to songs like "Force your way" which is played I believe when fighting most of the boss battles. The music is just so much more exciting, Even though the music is played off of cheap MIDI like quality, play some of those songs on 5.1 surround (the soundtrack ofcourse) and you'll swear your listening to an orchestra... (even though you know you arnt) it almost tricks you for a second. Even the most played song ("the battle music") is so energizeing (for me atleast).

Can you tell I enjoyed Final Fantasy 8? Well your right I did. Can you tell I really don't like Final Fantasy 7 as much as everyone else? Your right, I don't like it hardly at all actually. (used to)
I think it's one of the most highly overrated RPGS of all time. It just isn't that good. Turn based RPGs have to do something REALLY special for me to really stick with them.
heck the only reason why I played FF7 so much when I did, was becuase it was the only game I had for my PS for the longest time (so I was cheap... shoot me)
then I got XENOGEARS! :D Probably one of the greatest RPGs I've ever played :P

Well I can't say I wouldn't want to see a reborn version of FF7 or FF8, but unless square-enix can think of new additions to make improve the game it would be pointless. Try to think back, when you first played those games you were wandering around unknown terrain, getting lost, experimenting with characters in battle and with various strategies. If they did remake a Final Fantasy game and only change graphics and leave the gameplay identical, it would be boring for gamers who have already played through the game and possible too simple for most gamers today. As time has passed not only graphics but gameplay and difficulty have increased in games and to remake the game without addressing these issues would tarnish the memory of the characters that we have come to know and love throughout these games.

I would love to see a remake of FF7 , More than anything , but I think if they remade FF9 on the PS3 , it would be alot better than it was , FF9 was a awesome game , but the cartoonish style of play put it down , make it like the FF7 tech demo , and we got a great game.

just revamp the graphics, add a dozen more hard as hell bosses, some materia here and there, an enemy leveling system, easy or hard difficulty, and an active battle system and.. BOOOOM!!!, everyone buys it all over again. I'd buy it.

Actually I do believe they are remaking it for the PS3. Seen the trailer and I must say, BOOM BABY! It's graphics are much more intense then that of PS1. It appears as though they are using the same graphics as they did in the moive for this one.

Reasons to believe it is being remade:

Why would Square-Enix only remake the first scene of FFVII? And why FFVII? Why not something else? Plus as go-lucky crazy they've gone with the spin-offs, it wouldn't be all that shocking to see if it is being done. And oh yeah, Square-Enix party 2005 tomorrow and Sunday. Pray for an announcement on the remake.

Reason to believe it is NOT being remade:

Square-Enix said so.:(

without a doubt, it would be the best selling video game in history. and it's messed up that we are being teased with a ff7 tech demo. if a remake is made for ps3 i will spend the night outside of my local retailer the day before it's release.

I've been waiting for a remake since Final Fantasy VIII came out. I'm just glad Sqaure-Enix is finally considering it.
