i think a remake its stupid...im with him
just think about this...
square-enix makes FF7... but they change the gameplay trying to "improve it"... that will be horrible!!!!!...
square-enix makes FF7... but they change the history trying to "improve it"... that will be horrible too!!!!...
square-enix makes FF7... but they change the materia and the equipments of the same trying to "improve it"... that will be horrible too...again!!!!...
the only way FF7 can be remade is changing stuff that doesnt affect directly the things we loved about the original game... the only improvements i can think about right now are the graphics, and music... thats all... but i think we know Square-enix enought to know that they are not only going to improve it with the graphics, but they are going to want to "improve" the gameplay, history, etc, and at the end its going to be a total piece of crap! ...
we loved FF7 because how it was played, history, etc... if they change anything... will you still love it that much??
the only way i can support a remake its leaving it like it was and only change the graphics... nothing more...
Marmotas
1. Why ? If you like FF7, You should love it the way it is now.
2. FF8 would be a miles better one to remake, it's better in every single way.
3. There are many other FF projects to do before remakes of old ones, The best possible remake is a DVD for PS2 with 7 8 9 on, or several if they dont fit on. Maybe doing a FF4 Advance type thing and add a new dungeon. If you could get a DVD with 7 8 and 9 on, i would buy it instantly.
Actually the original FF7 graphic was pretty good. The only reason it looks so bad is that because you compare it to a PS3. Cmon man, you compare a PSOne to a PS3 :lol:timmycheung
I remember you...you use to be it the PSP forums, that was like a year ago
Wait this Tread is a year old!!!, who dig this one up??????????????
just let it die.

I think timmycheung is A_girl.I would just loove to be abel to play FF7 in a re-amde version with shaped up graphics... though FF7 is a bit easy it still has one of the best systems I ever has worked with in a RPG..
pls pls pls Square Give us this!
KingX
No give us a sequal to Xenogears THATS the real masterpiece!
That game had serious potential, until they gave the rights to Namco!
ya know I'm gonna sway from the croud a little bit, and say that I would much rather see a FFVIII remake then a FFVII remake. Call me a sucker for a love storey, but Final Fantasy VIII was much more emotionaly driven, and the gameplay was much funner. Interactive attacking, and Limit Breaks. Again call me a sucker for a love storey, but I think Final Fantasy 8 had much better story telling then Final Fantasy VII's overrated garbage. I loved the game and all, but take it from me (someone who has played through the game 13 times... yes 13 complete playthroughs)
I have played through 8 probably half of that (only becuase my copy was stolen by a stupid friend of a brothers(I think)... I just havn't go around to buying it again)
Final Fantasy 7's dialogue sounded more and more cliche' every time I played through, and got even that much more boreing to read (good dialogue just doesn't get boreing [Xenogears anyone?])
Sure the characters were great, but without good dialogue the character were just blah. Maybe if they redid some of the storyprogretion, and rewrote a lot of it, I would like it more, but it just didn't emotionaly capture me, like 8 did)
8's dialogue seemed much more down to earth, like reading an actual book, I don't know about anyone else, but I hate Novels that are fluffed with exaggerative words, that really are unneccesary( I'm not saying 7's was like such a novel, just makeing a point)
It also seemed more believable... which sounds crazy when I hear myself say this, but 8's storey seemed like fantasy mythology derived from a true to life story. the Characters were real, the emotion was real, and the music just helped to excel both of those. Btw, the music in FF8 was(is) just great. I'm listening to it right now. It really reminds me of old 80's artsy rock (it almost seems as if 80's genesis material was the music artists main inspiration) Listen to songs like "Force your way" which is played I believe when fighting most of the boss battles. The music is just so much more exciting, Even though the music is played off of cheap MIDI like quality, play some of those songs on 5.1 surround (the soundtrack ofcourse) and you'll swear your listening to an orchestra... (even though you know you arnt) it almost tricks you for a second. Even the most played song ("the battle music") is so energizeing (for me atleast).
Can you tell I enjoyed Final Fantasy 8? Well your right I did. Can you tell I really don't like Final Fantasy 7 as much as everyone else? Your right, I don't like it hardly at all actually. (used to)
I think it's one of the most highly overrated RPGS of all time. It just isn't that good. Turn based RPGs have to do something REALLY special for me to really stick with them.
heck the only reason why I played FF7 so much when I did, was becuase it was the only game I had for my PS for the longest time (so I was cheap... shoot me)
then I got XENOGEARS! :D Probably one of the greatest RPGs I've ever played :PRAD_RADIO
You, sir are awesome!
You make the most sense on this board. Your right FF7 is WAAAY too overrated.
Alot of people's reason for liking FF7 is because of that so-called uber boss named Sephiroth...Ugh!
I used to drool over him too, but im over that. Besides why would you want to drool over that old fogey when someone cooler, stronger and faster exists in video games (Dante!)
FF8 is a classic and you agree with my statement i guess when i say Xenogears is an Instant Classic. And is the most overlooked game from Square.
Xenogears is waay better than Xenosaga, especially Episode 2!
And just for the record it is proven that Xenosaga IS related to Xenogears. Its proven on the Episode III forum...Just had to get that out.

Yeah, Xenogears is the best RPG ever, yet only a few people played it. Almost everyone played FF7, so it wouldn't be a good choice to remake, since everyone knows the story. Xenogears has the best story ever and not many knows it. Plus, they wouldn't run out of budjet on disc 2 and could do it nicely.
BTW, everyone knows Xenogears is related to Xenosaga, Xenogears is Episode 5 of the same serie. Neither Namco or Square made up that serie.
But you don't give Episode II the credit it deserves. While the musics sucks, it has a lot to offer. I like the battle system, because it involves strategy, and not only attacking until the boss dies, like most RPGs. Even with a few extra levels, the game is still hard. What's bad is that skills don't make characters unique, but there's a lot of them, so you'll need to specialize characters until later, if you really want to get everything, but it would take a while. It has many secret dungeons and bosses, and those are a great challenge. Plus, the story is much more pumping than Episode I, especially disc 2. Disc 2 is full of 'OMG!' and by the end, you're totally hyped for Episode III. I wasn't really hyped after Episode I. And chaos' voice is much better in Ep II. :P
But Xenogears is still better! Too bad Namco dropped their plans on Ep IV, V, VI.

Your right FFVIII IS better in every way.
But anyway yes you can fit those 3 on 1 DVD. I have them...Or i used to have them all on my computer via emulation and all of them were barely 3 gigs hardly taking up a DVD.

I guess, lol i just bought episode 2 last weekend and stopped playing i havent even played an hour!
Its because i assumed the tech attacks were gone. You cant have a Xeno game without deathblows/tech attacks!
Once i battled a couple of times i saw they were only doing 2 hit combos that turned me off completely.
Maybe i need to start up again.
Who wouldn't buy it. I was dissapointed with the grahics of ff7 since playing ff8, and did not understand the game ending one bit! We don't need a remake of ff8 but we should for ff7 for sure! I can imagine a 2007 release.
What do you think?
aaronball
horrible idea imo, I wouldn't buy a remake of a game that came out in 1996, They would sell it for 60 bucks and all I'm getting are improve graphics and maybe voice acting? Imo its not worth give me FFXIII please.

KOS-MOS still has techs and there's double techs, but you'll only use them if the boss is weak agaisnt them.
The battle system is much better than it looks, but you won't need to get very strategic until late in disc 1. But in disc 2, it's a different story, you'll need to plan your actions for common enemies as well. You don't simply pict your strongest player and always use your strongest tech, like in Episode I, you need to switch your party members to take advantage of their elemental attacks. I like difficulty, and Episode II satisfy me more than Star Ocean 3, compared to PS2 RPGs.
I am truly sure they are doing a remake.
They can use all the textures and characters from FFVII Advent Children. So much has been done already in that movie they can re-use and make a big game. They are tons of gamers I know they are willing to play it but the graphics are not good enought and simply they skip.
I reckon as well if they do a remake they have to improve the gameplay and E X P A N D the storyline (NOT improve mind you)
With expand I mean add scenes and more scenes. Seriously I cannot wait for a complete 3D world where there is a cut scene and you have the seven characters talking to each other with all the details. And then you have all this parts of the game where you go to the past and everything. And the cut scene where cloud and tifa are kids and they are looking at the starts. All that with moving lips, moving eyes, hair, acting, 3D camera movement. Make the entire FFVII game into a incredible and vast FFVII interactive movie experience. If sony wants to save the PS3, they should give a check of 30 million dollar and tell SE to move it and start ASAP with the project. That is what PS3 did, they had to make a showcase showing FFVII intro with advanced graphics. Now they should simply make the game!
God I am going bananas! I dont want to pass the game another 5 times or something I want an actualized game so I can play it another 20 times!
No there wouldn’t be much point in re doing, a classic just to have it looking all shinny on the ps3, just simply to have it look nice there would be such drastic changes in the game to validate a choice like that.Â
Final Fantasy 7 and 8 where fantastic games not cause of graphics but because of there story and gameplay for there time.
I think they will see how FF13 does and how gamers respond to the battle system.
If all goes well they will use a similar battle system but slightly modified to still feel like the classic ff7 system (materia) and make a remake which will ship christmas 2009.Â
and just to make you all feel giddy inside watch this video.....

Like i tell every dimwit who request this.
Â
1. FFVII is far too dated to be able to compete with modern rpg's. The best you could hope for is a PSN release with improved graphics.
2. Squre Enix efforts, and money would be better spent on new projects
3. What about the ending could possibly be hard to understand?
4. SE has milked FFVII enough as it is.Â
Â
They should DEFINATELY make a Re-Make of FFVII! That game has had me hooked to the whole series. But yea, I believe that Square-Enix is going to make it. Again, just like a couple of ya'll have said, they prolly don't wanna make a big hype over it so we don't rush Square-Enix in re-making it and whatnot, just like how we all was impatiently waiting for the PS3. I'm definitely gonna patiently wait for this Re-Make. And also like all of you have said, both Sony and Square-Enix would gain A LOT OF MONEY just by having this re-make out on the store shelves. People worldwide would buy not only the re-make but a brand-new PS3 Console (if they don't already have it. So yea, I really hope they make this re-make, itz gonna be off the chain! And another thing...they should re-make FFVIII as well, hehehe.Â

They won't make a FFVII remake. It was just a tech demo.
Why should they remake FFVIII? It's the worst FF ever made.Â
LISTEN UP Y'ALL!
They're in the production of re-releasing ff7 on ps3, and they're attempting ff8 as well. My friend through FFXI online is a game tester, and he receieves monthly updates on upcoming games to test, and ff7 for ps3 was on the list, meaning, it will only take a matter of time before its actually confirmed publically. FF8....well..thats just being played around with, not too sure about that. Besides, Squenix said themselves, the FF7 Compilation is not over.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!OMG!!!!!!!!
that would be so cool! Hey guys, this topic started in 2005, its been resurrected!!
