hey ps3 owners! i need your assistance on finding myself a really good/fun rpg or jrgp. i love a good story that will really engage me into the game and keep me hooked. i already played and beaten folklore and i loved it (such a great story and fun gameplay!) so if u could help me find a great rpg or jrpg then id really appreciate it! thanks in advance.
i do already have obilivion for the pc and xbox360 is the ps3 one different at all? if not what other games would u recommend? and yea dude i really enjoyed folklore i hope u do too. but just a heads up, play as both the characters becuz once u get to chapter 5 ure gonna have to have ch.5 completed with both ellen and keats to move on to ch.6 and so on.
For PS3, Folklore is a great choice. Oblivion is not my cup of tea, but a good game none-the-less. If you want some great RPG's, try the PS2's Dark Cloud series, Rogue Galaxy, Tales series and Final Fantasy X/XII.
Oblivion's a great RPG, but it's not a JRPG. If you want a good JRPG, PS2 has dozens of 'em. You can get Dragon Quest VIII for dirt cheap these days. I highly recommend that one.
Get The Oblivion 'game of the year edition'. It comes with both expansionpacks knights of the nine and shivering isles. It'll keep you goin a couple hundred hourss at least
Folklore! It's an action-rpg, but, you'll enjoy it :D Enchanted Arms is a good time filler, it's not horrible, it's not great, it's a solid if unspectacular traditional JRPG with a forgettable story, but fun combat.
Anything in the Shin Megami Tensei series is worth a look also. And if you haven't, play Okami. Is more of an adventure game, but one that you'll regret not having played if you haven't.

I don't think Oblivion offers anything that could be called "different", but it does feature one of the most expansive worlds in an RPG. And it is not linear at all, you can tackle things pretty much in a lot of different ways. LO is a traditional JRPG, with the rings system to spice things up. Oblivion's story isn't really all that epic, and from what I've read, neither is Lost Odissey. You can expect better character development on LO though I am sure. In the end, it would really come down to what you prefer better, JRPG's or WRPG's.
get oblivion game of the year edition.its pretty good and the expansions are superb.i only managed to finish the knights of the nine expansion.still have to do the shivering isles which is damn good.
Lost Odyssey... If you love FF... It's good to hold you of until the rumoured 2010 relaease of FF13. LO story is great (one of my best experiences, 35 hours in).
Oblivion is also solid, but I thought you mentioned you played Oblivion on the PC? If you did the GOTY version is not worth buying new game for.
Correct me if I'm wrong. But if your waiting for JRPGs on the PS3, you need to wait quite a while. The earliest one coming is Eternal Sonata I think. Though, I am in Japan and we have Disgaea 3 on the PS3 (It was out a few months back).
yea i do already own oblivion for the pc so i guess it would kinda be a waste of money. but i seriously have/beaten pretty much all of the rpgs u guys listen for the ps2. i "destroyed" the final fantasy series (meaning i beat almost all of them with crazy good stuff) and ive loved the kingdom hearts series. so i think my best bet is LO cuz its made up of one of the founding fathers of final fantasy (i think). so im leaning heavily on LO. im going to my local game store today to pick up a game, i have 60 bucks and im leaving in like 3-4 hours so all ure posts will still count till then :P

Then what are you waiting for!... Support Sakaguchi-san! And Uematsu-san (original composer for FF)! Both are involved in LO... I love Uematsu's work, and I'd buy LO just to experience the music.

Buy a 360, although the classic Japanese style isn't Gamespot's favorite, Gametrailers, IGN, Game Informer, and many others swear by Mistwalker.
yea i hear u btf504. no doubt more will come out tho, i mean final fantasy will only make games for Playstation 3 or psp now so we will be getting games from them, also im sure more will come tho.

You mean Square-Enix? Yeah, for now all of their games should show up on the PS3 in some form or another. Its a shame we have to wait so long for them though.
FF13/Vs., The Last Remnant, and Star Ocean 4. The last 2 are multi-plat. They are helping Tri-Ace develop Infinite Undiscovery for the 360 as an exclusive, and they are toying with where to put the 3rd Kingdom Hearts at the moment (between PS3 and Wii, my guess will be the Wii.) They also have Dragon Quest 9 coming to the DS here in a little while.
Only very good RPG is Oblivion. If you want jprg there is Enchanted Arms, I have played it trough one time and it was ok... There isn't any big rpg:s at this time :?
