Yesterday it stopped recognizing discs, when you insert a disc it doesn't show it on the PS3 Menu, But in the top right corner the disc keeps moving.. This happened right after I updated to 3.0 I even tried fully formatting the PS3 and it didn't work. I tried Diffrent CDS too. My discs look perfect too so I couldn't imagine why it's doing this.. Please help. My PS3 is a 80 GB and I had it for more then a year and a half now. Am I forced to send it in? I just rented a game yesterday just to play it. I don't want my money to go to waste.

OMG! I KNOW WHY ITS DOING THIS! you updated to 3.0 right? i think sony have added a little virus in there somewhere so you go and buy there new ps3 slim. It happened to one of my friends on GS as well. Im hearing alot of this lately.
ok I work at dvd and psp ps3 and all gaming devices when there aproblem about ps3 when it cant recogzize the disc its like empty you know how I made it two consoles with the same problem I restore it ful but I am hearing you you have did the esame thing any way goood luck try it
hey can you guys help me? i just bought a 40GB ps3 and as it was starting up it was doing a update and about half way through it stoped and told me to contact customer services, andit gave me this number 8002F1C0. can anyone help me?

Really? A conspiracy? Anyways, to the TC, I'm not saying there isn't anything wrong with your PS3 but it could be coincidence. Before sending your PS3 in, get a laser head cleaner. It's a disc you put in and it scrubs your laser head to remove any dust, junk, whatever... If that doesn't work, then send your PS3 in. Trust me, this is not a VIRUS. I'm trying to hold back the tears of laughter on that "theory".
