Call me crazy but I have alot of faith in Sony for the creation of Killzone for the PS3. Sony probably have the greatest first-party titles compared to other companies, every game they have made they have excelled on that particular genre.

Gran Turismo is a the greatest racing game ever and the biggest selling game of last generation.

GOW is one of the most amazing action/adventure game which has set a very high standard for other action games to follow.

Ico is one the most beautiful and enchanting game which inspired alot of game makers as well as games.

Shadow of the Colossus is one the most fantastic and original game to ever to grace a console.

You see, Sony have made some really landmark videogames which are just fantastic to play as it is to watch. I feel that Sony are very passionate about Killzone, sure its PS2 outing was not all that but that was because it was Guirrilla's first game plus they tried to make a game which required alot more power then what PS2 had. The reason Sony bought Guirrilla was because they had full confidence that Killzone would be one of the greatest if the not greatest console FPS ever and now with the PS3 they have enough power to create their true vision of killzone.

Guirrilla have already said that the main focus on Killzone for the PS3 is going to be multiplayer which is awesome considering this is what everyone looks for when they buy an FPS, although I would expect the game to have a fantastic singleplayer as well as lush visuals and amazing AI.

Since the Killzone CGI trailer which was shown 2 years ago Sony and Guirrilla have been extremely secretive about this game, I believe that these last 2 years - plus I'm sure Guirrilla have been experimenting with PS3 hardware before E3 05- Guirrilla have been trying really hard to understand how the PS3 architecture works while making the game at the same time.

Sony has invested alot of time, money and man power into the developement of Killzone so I believe that they are very VERY dedicated and serious about Killzone, Sony wants Killzone to meet their expectations before they show it to the public, heck its stated that some parts of the game already exceed that infamous CGI video which sounds awesome considering how amazing that CGI vid was.

I am 100% confident that once Sony unveils Killzone it will be the BIGGEST surprise of the year, the game will exceed everyones expectations and will get an average score of atleast 9.4 if not more when it gets released.

I believe noone thinks this game will do good just because the "PS2!" version didnt do good...I think that with the next generation technology, they will do amazing... im hyping this game to have the best console graphics yet. im also hoping it will have the best animation seen in a game yet.

I hope, but I don't see the hype. Killzone the original wasn't all that great, I don't think we know what Guerilla or this game is capable of, therefor I don't see how anyone can say its going to be great or its going to suck.

Killzone sucked because Guerilla pushed the PS2 basically past it's limits there were graphical glitches and bugs due to that, otherwise it would have been an amazing FPS and that's what held them back hardware. This is the PS3 and has so much more power so I think they'll do great with Killzone 2.

Don't hype it yet. You haven't even seen the damn gameplay. You don't even know the official name! Stop hyping crap AAA. you just make us all look bad when it turns out not to be as great of game as everyone thinks. Jeez. Hyping games before they are even officially named. Thats just sad. It's cool to talk about how great it will be. But to actually try and guess a score? ridiculous.

Or the game is bad and they don't want it to get out. Hollywood does that regularly.

Hyping up a game that you know literally nothing about is silly.

Mike can you seriously detract from all the negative comments you put out on this board? Although I highly agree that no one should be hyping a game that isn't out and hasn't even been shown to the public as of yet, but every comment I've seen you post on this board is generally 100% negative. Like I said before in a question that you didn't answer, if all you're are gonna say when posting here is negative then why even come at all?

I've been more than clear about my love for the new planned Ratchet & Clank title. But when it comes to games that weren't good the first time, sorry, I have a hard time building up a lot of affection for it. If the game is historically solid, I am FAR more willing to give benefit of the doubt. I mean, I don't LIKE Devil May Cry, but I can easily get why others adore the game and I want to see how good the game ends up being as the video I've seen of it thus far is truly impressive.

But Killzone 2? No. The first title was not good and to suddenly expect it to beat all other console FPS is insane. Heck, Half-Life 2, most likely, will never receive any massive competition as the PS3 best FPS.

Mike...get a grip on it man.. Did you just build yourself a time machine? No? Then is there any insight you could give me into your opinion here?

It seems rather slanderous at first glance...seeing as you haven't seen the game or taken part in its development.

The biggest problem with the first game was the framerate....that's kinda it...I mean it wasn't outstanding but you said it was "crap" man that just isn't true. If the game was outright awful then there wouldn't be interest in this studio or the multi-million dollar title that they're working on

Why am I hyping Killzone for PS3 when the first Killzone for PS2 didn't live up to expectations?

Well thats easy, back then Guirrilla were a relatively new company who came from a PC background, they showed a picture of an oil rig to Sony which they created and looked remarkbly realistic. Sony immediately struck a deal with them to make an FPS exclusive to PS2. When Killzone was shown it looked really good but unfortuantely the media went crazy and started hyping the game as a Halo Killer, thus began Killzone's downfall. PS2 was alot weaker then the Xbox, this time PS3 is a little if not alot more powerul then the 360. Killzone for PS2 had alot of glitches because Guirrilla tried to push PS2 to its limits which didn't quite work but then it was their first venture into making a game for a console.

Sony acquired Guirrilla in 05 seeing the potential of Killzone on the PS3, Sony are investing alot of time, money and man power in creating the ultimate console FPS, seeing Sony's track record of creating amazing games I expect Killzone to be nothing less.

So basically I think that Killzone will ROCK becaue I have faith in Sony plus I have a strong gut feeling :D

1. Sony does not have the greatest first party titles. Although a lot of them are good, I believe that Nintendo actually holds the crown for greatest first party titles. Nintendo's franchises sell systems. Zelda, Mario, Smash Bros., Metroid. These games have carried Nintendo for years. Most of Sony's success can be attributed to 3rd party support, which it had tons of. 2. I never played Killzone 1, but I'm looking forward to 2. I just hope it plays just as good as the CG demo. Especially if this game comes out around the same time as Halo 3.

Feel free to explain where the "slander" is. If you think Killzone 1 was amazing, not being appreciably better doesn't make it bad, right?

YOU have no idea what the game is like, either. The first game was bad. The PSP game, also, was bad. Sorry, but the sequel does not get benefit of the doubt.

As for the first one being crap --- yeah, it very much was crap.

Even if it becomes the Halo killer that many are waiting for, Halo/360 fans still wouldn't admit it.  They would call it the most overrated game ever, like most other people already call Halo.

I wouldn't hype it yet, but when a huge title gets unspoken and nothing shown for 2 years that means something.  GTAIV is doing the same thing.  It shows the devs are more focused on developing than promoting and wasting time creating demos/trailers.

It would be cool if it's a great game, but I am going to wait and reserve my judgment until after I've got some concrete information, screens, etc.

I was excited before Killzone 1, and I didn't really feel that game lived up to my expectations.  Once bitten, twice shy, I guess.

A lot of you had some great comments.

I wouldn't hype this game too much because we still know too little about it. The fact that we don't know much could be extremely good or bad in the same respect as GTAIV (We don't know much about it, but historically GTA has always rated high). It's either the game doesn't live up to the trailer, and the trailer was a tool for hyping the game up, or the game will far exceed expectations.

In general, a lot of the games that are in development for the PS3 all look so amazing its hard to believe that it will be the finished product. To be honest, I know the PS3's specs, and it can definitely be handled on the console (fully-rendered). But do graphics really make the game?

Let's hope that they focus as much on gameplay as on graphics, cause that's what is going to make a great experience.

Has any one played the Killzone:Liberation version for the PSP. That really was great. It psuhed the hardware on the PSP and the game tunred out really nice.

So KZ on the PS3 is the third game not the second.

*Sigh* let me say it again

Killzone on PS2 didn't live up to expectations because...

1) It was Guirrilla's first console game

2) it was hyped as a Halo killer by the media

3) PS2 was not powerful enough for their vision of killzone

4) it had alot of glitches

Killzone on PS3 will live up to expectations because...

1) Guirrilla are now First-Party proving that Sony are serious about Killzones PS3 future

2) Guirrilla have spent alot of time understanding PS3's capabilities

3) Guirrilla haven't shown anything on Killzone for PS3 thus proving their dedication on creating an amazing game that matches the CGI trailer instead of flauting the game at every oppertunity.

4) Sony are spending alot of money, resources and man power on making Killzone the definitive FPS on PS3

5) I have faith in Sony :D

[QUOTE="G-Legend"]You forgot MGS which is a great stealth game. And Socom is a great tatical shooter, and Ratchet and Clank and Jak are like some of the best platformers.nish14

...Sony has nothing to do with MGS. It is not a first party title.

True...

I disagree.

I think the 360 will have the best shooters because thats just whats popular on 360

ps3 will probly have better rpgs because sony fans tend to like rpgs

some would say that pc has the best shooters. But I disagree, there are many great shooters that are exclusive to consoles, goldeneye, perfect dark zero, resistance, metroid prime games

thats not to say that ps3 wont have good shooting games. I just think the selection of shooters for 360 will be a lot stronger.

I do however think sony will have better rpgs than most other systems because they have more japanese than american fans and japanese love rpgs and dislike shooters

so to please their fanbase sony will concentrate on rpgs rather than shooters.

but to answer your post. No I don't think anyone can make any predections about the game becaue no real in game screenshots have been released. Just the trailer from over a year ago that showed pre rendered cgi and tried to make it appear as though it were actual gameplay. That alone gives me reason to doubt this game. But dont call me a fanboy because I said the same about halo3 in the 360 forums. I won't hype halo 3 until I see some real screens and stuff.

[QUOTE="Brendruis"][QUOTE="MikeinSC2"]

The sequel will not be appreciably better.

MikeinSC2

Mike...get a grip on it man.. Did you just build yourself a time machine? No? Then is there any insight you could give me into your opinion here?

It seems rather slanderous at first glance...seeing as you haven't seen the game or taken part in its development.

The biggest problem with the first game was the framerate....that's kinda it...I mean it wasn't outstanding but you said it was "crap" man that just isn't true. If the game was outright awful then there wouldn't be interest in this studio or the multi-million dollar title that they're working on

-=Mike

The Killzone: LIberation for the psp was NOT bad. It got an 8.3, and would've gotten even higher had it had online multplayer and a longer campaign.

As I've said elsewhere, unlike seemingly everybody else here, I don't obsess over what a reviewer scores a game.

Liberation was better than Killzone --- but it was still BAD.

There is no foundation for Killzone to be even considered the greatest FPS ever.  Having a CGI trailer that was claimed to be Realtime, and a history of making bad games.  I hope Killzone will be a good FPS, but honestly, i'm not expecting much.

I think it's pretty obvious he's just Sony's keyboard warrior.  Where Gears of War came into the conversation, I have no idea, but he ignited it.
