This is a complaint about attitudes on this board. Ratchet & Clank Future Tools of Destruction "flopped" as you guys say for the same reasons NiGHTS Journey of Dreams "flopped". There is just not enough of the core gameplay. A discretion from the original.

I wish people would stop complaining about the R&C score. I listened to the outcry mob and heavily regreted it. It's a poor platformer by PS2 Ratchet & Clank standards.

It's got a fair bit of replayability, and the singleplayer is really fun?

Yea well its kinda hard there hav been so many R&C games... and the only thing they have changed is scenery, graphics, plot and weapons. That doesnt seem to b enough which is why its going

down

hill!

much like crash bandicoot... ps1 got a good dose of it then the gameplay got boring and repetitive best thing they could come up with was kart racing....

It's gimmicky and doesn't have a great amount of core platforming gameplay in it. The only complaint I have about Gamespot is saying "Too much spice" when really they should have said "strays too far from the original concept". They should have just stuck to the platforming elements that made R&C fun on the PS2.

could it be recommended to someone who didn't get into the rachet & clank series but still likes platformers?...cause i was thinkin about getting it...because if it's just repetative compared to previous ratchet & clanks, then that's not a major concern

I would highly recommend it to hardcore platforming fans. I think that's who the 7.5 score bracket is for.

Dude, what are you talking about?! Gamespot criticized for having "too much variety"... there are tons of gameplay ideas in that game, and the core of shooting & traversing the environment are more well balanced in this title than in any other. Look at gamerankings.com, it has nothing to do with fanboy outcries... it was simply a great game according to the majority of gaming sites. NiGHTS on the other hand is just really flat.... as seen in the avg reviews of that game. R&C and SMG are the best platformers out this gen. And both are significantly better than anything that the last gen provided.

The one criticism is that the only next gen aspect is really the graphics and physics... the gameplay ideas have remained pretty constant to its predecessors. So the game fails to do anything drastically new... but as the majority of reviews are pointing out, this doesn't stop it from being a must have experience for any fan of platformers because the gameplay experience is incredibly refined.

i loved every single ratchet and clank game except for Deadlocked, that was the worst one made. all it's got are colisseum battles. i loved r&c on the ps3, the best one since UYA was released, which was just an amazing game. i think that r&cf:tod could have been a lot harder, but that is my only complaint against it. and anyone who has never played r&c would love this game. the reason fans were disappointed is that they played the others to death. i can't wait for the next one to come out is all i can say, and hopefully they make an even longer story and dont worry about mp cause the single player is where it's at. im glad future didn't have mp on it cause r&c just doesn't work with mp.

I just wish Ratchet & Clank Future was a straightforward R&C game without the gimmicks. The "variety" is "flat" and misses the platforming gameplay. NiGHTS had the same problem.

Completely agree.... i feel this is a great game for the PS3.... and please if your thinking about picking this up DO NOT go off of Gamespots scores.... this site gave this game one of its worse scores for having " too much Variety ". look at any other site this game was getting consistent 8.5-9.5.... and this isnt the first time Gamespot has severly underrated one of PS3s considered best games, games like Uncharted and Resistance were pulling 9's pretty much everywhere else to...and its not crying that GS has something against PS3 when its something this evident.

Well, your opinion is definitely in the minority... but it's just that, your opinion. R&C:FTOD was an awesome game. The gameplay was not gimmicky, the game was legitimately fun and all of the gameplay ideas made sense. NiGHTS doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as it.

I regret clicking on this thread - wish I'd listened to myself over my curiosity.

I absolutely loved the game. I don't get why you say it's gimmicky. What exactly do you mean? And the platforming is the core gameplay? R&C has always been more about the weapons than actual platforming.

R&CF:ToD was great.. it just obviously wasn't your style of game, Ratchet Deadlocked was a poor platformer, R&CF was fantastic, probably my favorite game out of the series... besides Going Commando

WHAT, stray too far from the original concept? WTH are you talking about this game was very much like the original. Now Deadlock was the game that stray too far from the orginal concept. R&C ps3 had alot of platform element.

Let me emphasize again you don't know what you are talking about.

its all opinions and the majority liked it more than gs did, and you have to look at other review sites it basically just gamespot who gave it 7.5.

Exactly. R&C is not my cup of tea, but it is good game none the less. It deserved better than a 7.5 (for having too much variety). Whatever. My wife and nephews love the game. I cannot wait and see what DLC is coming for it. To each their own.

Meh, it's all opinions. I have owned every R+C game and loved them all, (with the exception of Deadlocked/ Gladiator) and consider R+C: ToD to be joint first as far as my favourites in the series go. (The other is R+C3)

Its a good game, better then what gamespot gave it. I never played a ratchet n clank b4, i had a ps2 for about 6 months untill i played Halo then xbox 1 - ps3.

Anyway i am really enjoying it, its got good shooting and jumping gameplay, its funny, nice graphics, cool guns and uses the sixaxis well.

what are you talking about how much more straight forward can rachet and clank be.

i mean you beat one planet then you go to the next just like the first one.

example of a gimmick because that all you have been saying but yet you don't give an example. did you think the pirate dancing a gimmack because that was fun.

i think it was more like the first one than all of them.
