I know its sounds like I'm confused but let me explain why I am torn.

Pros - adds new challenges for games, I love that sound when I get one, I get more out of my games (gives me a goal), I am competitive by nature and its always cool to see something add up over time.

Cons - People boost online and ruin some types of online gaming, some people wont play a ps3/360 game cause they have so many points for their preffered console, people miss out on older games cause they won't play games with out trophies (MGS4, Valkyria chroncicles, Resistance, Heavenly Sword), some people become rediculously addicted to getting them, and people will pay for or rent crap games just to get them (making developers think they can make a crap product and people will buy it for easy points)

I have a buddy who has a PS3 and 360 like me, the sad thing is he doesnt play any of the awesome PS3 exclusives cause he cares to much about achievements. Instead of borrowing infamous from me, he rented that avatar game and some kid game for achievements! Now I admitt I do care more for ps3 trophies then 360 but i still enjoyed playing through fable 2, gears of war series, left 4 dead, and other 360 exclusives.

So in closing people enjoy games! I know trophies/achievements are fun but dont miss out on a game cause it doesn't have um or its not on your preffered system :)!!!!!

I enjoy the occasional hunt for a well earned trophy. Some games use trophies well and think of creative ideas that you wouldn't normally do in a certain game. A good example of this is Uncharted. I found myself liking the game alot more because of trophies.

Yeah, it's great in Uncharted because they were originally in-game achievements, so they actually unlock stuff. I hope that future Uncharted (and Ratchet and Clank) games continue to do this.

Ah yes, I loved R&C skill points ^_^ I spent countless hours wandering around trying to get the points, just so I could get new cheats:P

Don't give a crap, except for the fact that they're a little annoying when they pop up on the top right corner and sometimes block my view of something in the HUD.

To be honest I like them because its like a challenge to my gaming skill level and when a I get a silver or gold trophy I would feel really proud of my self because earning that certain gold or sliver trophy ment that I have alot of gaming potential. I still remember when I got that street fighter 4 trophy where i had to win 10 ranked mathes in a row. I was shocked and yet thrilled. So overall trophies aren't a bad thing. I see them as boosting a gamer's selfesteem.

only trophy support i am hoping for right now is for AC2 did AC1 had them? i loved getting all the flags and killing templars in PC version and I got my PS3 copy few days ago but it seems like im missing the trophy support. Or do i have to patch it. other than that, i would care less. If a game is good, it's good. Why does trophy support has to be a big factor when buying games? i just dont understand some ppl.

sadly ac did not support them and will not, they will be in the next game. The annoying part with ac was there was no in game reward for collecting them and no trophies so no one really bothered to collect um all. Although I hate collecting a ton of something anyways.

I enjoy getting a trophy every now and then if its something interesting that I actually feel like doing. If its something stupid like spending months trying to get 100,000 kills I hang it up. I'm not wasting all my precious game time on some horribly placed trophy. But if I feel it actually adds to the game..... I just earned a trophy!

Love them, I think they're a good thing for gaming. It gives me a reason to play a game More than just once and gives more replay value as well as shows me different things about a game I wouldn't have otherwise known, like rather than just kill 10 guys a trophy would be like Kill 10 guys this way.

I actually got a PS3 to get me away from achievements on my Xbox. So, needless to say I could care less about about Trophies. I honestly dont think I have checked any trophies on my PS3.

I'm competitive by nature also and I LOVE the trophy system, but it doesn't influence my game purchases. If the game doesn't have trophies it doesn't bother me just so long as there's plenty of additional content to retain a high replay value. If a game offers trophies then naturally I'm going to continue to play the game until I've obtatined them all. To me adding the trophy system adds more to a game, and it keeps gamers enticed. They're challenges that test proverbial "mad skills".

Essentially it means that "My boyfriend plays his stupid games all day trying to get those stupid trophies/achievements which keeps him out of my v----a... It's better than birth control."

I think their a fun little goal to shoot for on replay's, and sometimes they can lead to you experiencing new aspects of a game that would have otherwise gone unnoticed to you. On the other hand I think that playing a game specifically for trophies or vice versa is really terrible, so I can't say that I love their existence.

Unfortunately there is no reward for a higher level...not even a sound:cry:. But I could care less most of the time. Actually I'm starting to dislike trophies now because all I get for doing awesome stuff is a stinkin trophy when before you would get upgrades or cheats.

I don't personally care about trophies. They don't add anything to a game for me, honestly. However, there is nothing wrong with having them in a game. Anybody who has a serious problem with them is taking things way too seriously.

Trophies can be used to get a little extra replay value out of a game, add some extra challenge, make you explore games in a way you hadn't thought about before, and just make people feel like they fully completed a game. There is nothing wrong with that.

The only time I *face/palm* is when I see someone passing on a game because they don't have trophies. Sadly, this happens a bit too often. I know it's up to each individual person to decide for themselves how and what to spend their money on, but I can't help but shake my head when I hear that.

Trophies are just for fun, people. If you don't care about them, like myself, then fine. Slamming trophy hunters is, quite honestly, pathetic. If you do like trophy collecting, more power to you. Just try not to overlook a game because it doesn't have trophy support. You never know what you might be missing out on;)

I don't care for them at all. My purchase of a game does not hinge on trophies. I play the game to have fun, not trophy hunt.

Poorly worded. NOT playing a game because of trophies, such as all of the people that have said they won't buy Valkyria Chronicles because of it. But yeah, don't be the grammar police kthnxbai.

i love them, achievements were my turning point in buying for 360 or ps3. now, since i think the trophy system is cooler, im looking at buying tons more ps3 games. they give u a better reason to do things that you wouldnt have done normally, some of which are pretty fun and some are just challenging, and some are flat out frustrating.

they are annoying since i am looking at buying some games because they have trophies and not playing older games since theres no trophies.

Well, you're obviously you're going to have your extremists who are annoying, but I believe trophies are a nice thing for games you really really want to get some more play time out of. inFAMOUS is a good, recent example. Beating the game doesn't take too long, but it's an incredible game you just want to keep playing, so having some sort of objective is a nice way to squeeze more out of the game.

It's not like you HAVE to get the trophies. People that play garbage games to earn trophies are pathetic, and people that cry about the existence of trophies are equally pathetic.

I like 'em. They give me meaning to play a game and I would like some sort of sentimental reward for doing something good. But they don't decide whether or not I'd buy a game.

Im not a fan, but the inclusion of them doesn't hurt the game. The only game I have EVER cared about going the extra mile was Super Mario 64, I got all 120 stars. That game did it right. I am, however,ABSOLUTELYagainst these first person shooters that make you do things or getachievementsin order to fully enjoy the online experience. Super super lame. Is that what people are complaining about? If so, I agree 100%.

achievements are a good way for developers to track how players are playing their games based on what achievements they've gotten. that said im not a fan of trophies in ps3, it was an after though on their part they didn't take it seriously so i don't either . theres just no incentive since it wasn't there from the start. the tracking thing was in an article on kotaku a while back i believe developers are actually using them so its a vital tool. also it adds some more replay value to the game and its a good way for developers to steer the player into playign the game they way they intended and designed it. its a useful tool that i believes being overlooked. i think though that having rewards for trophys is step in the right direction. however i think they should give you like credit to buy stuff on psn rather then home items (which makes them useless in my book).

I like trophies and all, but I get a game for the game, not for the trophies.
