im just wondreing , is it normal for the PS3 to freeze sometimes ? cuz im haveing trouble with mine , it keeps on freezing all the time , but what i notced is , that it always freeze when cod4 is inside the ps3 , could that be the case ? or its from the ps3 itself ? thanks for all the help in advance
Mine rarely if ever freezes. Only when web browsing is it frequent. To stop it from freezing when surfing the web you need to disable javascript. They need to do an update on the internet browser :(
as far as I now, some games freeze moreo often that others.mine has only ever frozen once, and that was with oblivion inside. I thought I heard that COD4 often crashed, but I may be wrong (or thinking of the 360 version).
If it is often freezing, maybe even on the main ps3 screen, you may need to get it fixed. have you got the most up to date firmware? excluding the most recent pointless one
My PS3 only frooze when I first got it, however I was never playing it at the time. Just make sure you have enough room for it and don't put in on a carpet to overheat even more. I just putting it right side up like a tower as well.
now i cant speak for others but i will tell u that i never had any problems like that with my ps3. BUT....call of duty 4 did freeze on me few times and many of my friends and my buddys on PSN it is the game why does it happen god knows, but its not ur ps3, its the game
I remember once my ps3 decided to turn itself off and would not come back on for a few minuites. I think i was playing warhawk and I guess it over heated.
Best solution of these freezes/frame rate issues is to disconnect your PS3 from the net.Until and unless you arent playing online or using the net on your PS3 you should keep it disconnected.
Personally,mine did freeze on me when it was new but only like twice or thrice but nowadays it does not freeze AT ALL !
Theres only one time my PS3 has over frozen on me and that was when I was playing rainbow six vegas 2. At first the gun textures came up rainbow(hence the name Rainbow six vegas) coloured then the PS3 crahsed completely after 10 minutes which from that point on I just restared the console and played the PS3 without any problems ever again.

I dont think this is normal. if it is freezing on the start up screen (with the waves) then you may have a problem, espeically since it is happening a lot. Once every now and then is okay.does the ps3 have enough space? id phone sony or take it back to the shop if it is new
COD4 used to freeze on me aswell when I had it. It's just COD4 and how it's so horribly programmed, not your PS3. So don't worry. If it's freezing during the game, chances are it's the game. If it's freezing while you're in the XMB or something, then it's your PS3 for sure.
Mine sometimes freezes on the internet browser and with online games. Especially UT3. Whenever I tried to load a game with mods involved, the PS3 would freeze at least half the time. It's only ever frozen once offline and that was in Uncharted. Long story short- it's normal, just a minor annoyance.
yea mine freezes occasionally, Back last winter it always used to freeze if the room was cold (lol tisnt a joke) I think it was because its heat up so quickly
Well I've had mine for a long time and its only frozen twice. The first time was a couple months ago in Uncharted and the second time was during COD4 Online, 5 people were blown up by a car at the same time so I imagine everyone's froze. If it happens frequently call Sony and let them know, especially if it freezes while you're not playing a game. Also, a valid reason could be a faulty hard drive. Hope that helps.
