I dont have the specs near me on the Ps3 but i know its pretty compairable to a highend pc i think.So how com the Ps3 is slow searching online?I have cable internet.I play COD4 with no lag at all but online searches are like dail up.Im not bashing PS3 at all so dont go there.

Depends on a lot of factors which have nothing to do with the systems hardware.
1. ISP (Internet Service Provider) If your speed is not up to par then it will not be very fast
2. If you are connected via wireless to the access point, then there is always the possibility of radio interferance from other devices using the same channel as the access point. Run a site survey with some networking tools to determine what channels your neighbors are using so that you can make sure you have an optimal signal.
3. Run a connection test to make sure your NAT is open.
I'd guess because Sony is already trying to minimize the operating system's RAM usage, so there's not a lot left for the browser. Also, the OS is assigned to 1 SPE only.
I never thought of using the PS3 as a web browser. The thing is there is bugs that needs to be worked out for the PS3 to be a good web browser. This may be possible after HOME has been out for a while.
i also find it takes a while to download trailers and stuff. compared to my 360. but i think & guess thats coz the 360 has a wireless adapter with ariel. but love em both

Be quiet. PS3 has been out for 15 months, and has at least 7 years left. PS4 will be revolutionary, but we have no idea what revolutionary will mean in that time.
Lol, did you get a playstation for a web browser? Its an added application that other systems currently do not have. To make the web browser faster, after loading up like 2 pages or if you loaded up a page with lots of graphics. Simply just clear the cache. Go into the options and delete cache, keep doing it and the browser will be faster. mines is pretty fast.
Ya i agree i love my Ps3 but the web browser is not very good. But its better than not having one tho. I just use it to check e mail, it works great for that. But to browse the internet looking for stuff or shopping, its best to do that on a pc. Its not cause the Ps3 lacks power though.
I think it's good to have a browser but it needs some work. I love that you can actually play music while surfing ps3's browser. I only wish for ingame xmb so that if I am having trouble with a game and need a guide i can get it on ps3's browser with ease instead of having to put the controller down and run over to the comp

I have a simple solution for those games that I have problems with and want to check into some walk through to help in a game. I simply have my laptop sitting beside me all the time and it's connected to the same network no problem. All I have to do is pause the game while I take a look at what I need to know.
i do have a pc also but sometimes my wife or kids are on it so i have to use the PS3.I was just wondering thats all.The PS3 is way powerfull then my pc so i thought it would be faster.Youtube works so so though.
