I know updates are very capable of bricking whatever is being updated, but logically you wouldn't think so. jayelceyFW updates are in effect like a brain transplant.
It happens a lot, it seems...but does that make it something acceptable or expected? It shouldn't...jayelceyWhat are you basing "a lot" off of?
"A lot" is based on any number of electronic devices across the board that periodically get updates issued for firmware. I personally have been very lucky, but many have not. It can range from PCs to phones to consoles, and bricking happens way more often than it should...which is never.jayelceyThere's lots of stuff that should never happen but unfortunately we don't live in an ideal world.
I realize that we don't live in a perfect world and am not sure what point you are trying to make here by badgering everything I say.jayelceyI'm not badgering, I'm trying to understand your point. Obviously you're concerned about your PS3 bricking with any update but historically specific to the PS3 there's nothing to worry about.
Actually, you're wrong on that note. There was a PS3 update this past summer that bricked some systems once people started downloading it en mass. I was online shortly after it released, so it didn't affect me, but they actually removed it from the network, if you recall. I have a launch model 60gb system, and I don't particularly want it to become a brick as they are not easily or cheaply replaced...jayelceyAm I really wrong? Considering the number of FW updates there have been and the number of units that were actually affected by that one FW update, am I? My brother and I both have 60GB launch systems and have never had an issue. I recall during that FW update problem many 60GB owners stating they had no issues, if they were even lucky enough to get the update before it was pulled. HOME has been in BETA for a really long time, what would make one concerned that access to a version that has been already tested would brick their system?

What? :|
Usually if your system 'bricks', it was bound to happen .. and it was just a coincidence ..

You're not wrong ..
how do you get in the beta? Whats the most common way people are getting invites?
I got into the R2 beta through an unexpected email from Playstation Underground, which i was unaware I was a part of.
as randomly as you got into the R2 beta. as a matter of fact I didnt even get it, my brother did, which can explain the randomness of it.Please Log In to post.
