I hope that the same people hating on video game pirating are against pirating of "ALL" media. Being in the music industry, as a musician, I see the true repercussions of digital theft on a daily basis. Being "virtually" an unstoppable crime, every business connected to the entertainment industry has suffered major cutbacks that include everything from only being able to take on one project every few years to the overall quality of content being released.
Stop stealing and artists of all genres of entertainment can bring you more of and better products to enjoy.
I myself download games...i know thats bad but what am i supposed to do im 16 and parents cant afford to give me money for them...and even if i had the money i wouldnt buy em cuz that doesnt make any sense..why would i buy smthing that i can get for free...its not like the game is any different when u download it!!XBryanFuryXHmm...so by your logic, I'm guessing you didn't buy your PSP either, since of course, why would you buy something you could get for free by stealing (like a video game). I'm guessing you also don't buy your food or clothes either because, ha! who would BUY those things when you could get them for free bystealing (just like stealing video games!)? Folks, stealing is stealing, whether it be intangible digital media or the console you use to play the game. Many people fell that stealing intangible media makes it "okay." Grow up kid or get a job. If you can't aford to buy video games, find another way to entertain yourself.

Developers didn't want to really bother when they know there will be little profit because the PSP is hugly populated by piraters. They make there games and get no profit and don't get paid for thier work. Plus u lose games to download. U basically kill the system

Man u cant compare downloading things with actual stealing...no matter what u say that will never be the same, im talking about something u can get for free and dont need to have it in your hands...like games, movies, animes etc!!...but i agree that this kills the system...but im not the only one with such opinion...where u say about how i should get a job...i will soon when i finish school so then ill see if i will buy them or i wont!!!...and dont give me that grow up kid BS, hate when older people think that 16-18 cant think for themselves!!! :P

WHAT! Yes u can compare them, Guess what when u steal a game then the devs and anyone who worked on the games won't get the money they deserve. The same goes for downloading it. U get a full game and u didn't pay. Ethier way you are usign their product but not paying. No matter what you say, you are stealing. I bet if you were to plead a case like that to a cop or judge they won't exactly agree with your statement.

god i mean if a guy runs up to another guy asks him for a call and steals the cellphone...u cant compare downloading with that...im not giving anyone emotional stress and **** like that Actually you can. Now a days many developers and people are getting Laid Off or fired. So when you and all thoese other piraters do thier they put peoples jobs in danger. Lets say you work for a Developing Company. Thats your job you use it to pay bills and everything thing else. You work on a game and it doesn't sell too good. Many pirated it. (While it might have had good revies that doesn't matter). They ethier disband hte company or you get laid off. Now you can't pay your bills and because someone chose not to pay for your product then you lose your job. Thats has emotional stress. Plus that game may never get a sequel and people lost out on games that could have been really fun and entertaining. My point is downloading a film or music does not mean that I take away your film or music. The metaphor of physical objects versus digital information does not work. Period.XBryanFuryXDid you not read the post. Look Resistence Retribution had critical success, but not good enought sales. It was pirated by many and well Sony wasn't happy. Why do you think PSP didn't have many games last year or well why people complain about it? Well since devs know this system is pirated by many and well it won't sell well we got less games. Now they are making alot of games but thats because only now sony sees they have to crackdown on this crap. You say the metaphor doesn't work but how do you not take entertainment from us when people decide not to make enterainment for us becuase or piracy.

If you giving examples of something now hear out this: Music companies blame a fifteen percent drop in sales since 2000 on downloading. But over the same period, there was a recession, a price hike, a 25% cut in new releases, and a lack of popular new artists. Factoring all that in, maybe downloading increases sales. And 90% of the catalog of the major labels isn't for sale anymore. The Internet is the only way to hear this music.
i would say that DS games can be pirated too (pretty easily), but for some reason, you guys are getting all the bad rep about how you destroyed the psp. then i'd lolihaveabuYeah the DS is focused on Casual Gamers just like the damn wii. So many buy for the DS. Now it's for everyone. Moms, Grandparents, everyone. The PSP has less of the Cooking Mama gmaes and such. The PSP is also hugely pirated and us PSP users lose out on games becuase more and more people refuse to make games when they know what will happen when it comes to sales.

Hard Copies are a big part of it. Sure Download is growing but Main Software or Major games. I understand some people find the prices unreasonable and well we are in hard times but while it might have hiked sales in Music it's lowering sales on the PSP and video Games in general. I mean people wouldn't care if this didn't affect others but it does and thats why people are angry. Im just trying to say while downloading might be the only way for you toget the games kee in mind it does affect others.

I know that is bad, but i have had so much games that i was dissapointed in, and if i would of bought em that would be complete waste of money, plus there are soooooo much games that require like 6h to beat them, i just dont see any sense in buying those games!!! Only 2 games im acctually considering buying are tekken 6 and the remade FFVII, and i think if psp had more good games with online playing system like for example its for WoW there would so much more buyers, cuz u couldnt play without the original cuz u require the cd-keys for registering an account and gotta send money each month!![QUOTE="XBryanFuryX"][QUOTE="DarkMaster7991"] Did you not read the post. Some piraters try out games first to make sure they're not buying crap. And games from a memorystick is faster from a UMD.

The majority of pirates use those same excuses and more to defend their piracy practices. In the end, they're still pirating. Not cool.
Piraticing is obviously illegal. But the question is one of ethics. If someone wants to try a game before they buy it, I have no problem with that. I can't count the times I've bought a really bad game, and the store won't take it back because I've "opened it and could have copied it". I'm like "The game sucks. Who would copy this game?" And games ARE faster from memory stick. Is it 'not cool' to play iso's from your memory stick if you own the UMD equivalent? Or is that just unjust to the intellectual property rights of the game makers? This is a complex ethical question indeed. Why should someone be able to control what we do with out hardware? We purchased the product, why does another person have dominion over our property? Shouldn't it be the companies responsibility to protect their own software? The digital media age is bringing about some major problems. IMHO, it should be sony's responsibility to protect their intellectual property.Pirates are stupid humans, they know that pirating is wrong, they know that it's their fault BUT they don't wan't to look wrong.
Pirates: PSP only has ports, I won't buy ports.
*SONY forces developers to make exclusive games which results in less games*
Pirates: The PSP has no games THAT'S the problem.
*Costumers don't buy the PSP because everybody makes the joke that the PSP has no games*
*SONY is desperate and puches the PSP in Europe but especially Japan because those sales are good.*
Pirates: Whaaaaaaaaa! I hate Sony, they don't support the PSP! Bring the games over here!
*Developers bring games like Phantasy Star, Dynasty Warriors to the PSP and they don't have sales like in Japan*
Pirates: I won't buy PSP games because they are not as good as console games
*SONY brings console quality like games to the PSP*
What will happen now is still unknown, but you can guess yourself.....

The digital media age is bringing about some major problems. IMHO, it should be sony's responsibility to protect their intellectual property.Yes, piracy has recently become more a question of ethics then a question of illegal practice, only because it has become so easy and accessible to pirate games. It is absolutely understandable that someone may want to try out a game before throwing down thier hard earned cash for it. That's why remedies like demos, trailers, screenshots, previews, reviews, gameplay videos and etc exist for you to take advantage of - all which are perfectly legal I might add. Sure, some games don't have demos to try out, but that's no excuse to pirate it. If you really need to, rent the game before purchasing it.
Piracy (software) and hard-modding (hardware), while closely related, are two different things. Moddifying your hardware to enhance its capabilities (like loading UMDs or PS1 games you own onto the Memory Stick) is perfectly fine. It's your hardware - do whatever you please with it. Had I the time from classes and work, I too would rip my PS1 games to play on my PSP. Piracy is a different issue. The games downloaded from the internet, are NOT your software - you can't do whatever you please with it. This is where the problem arises. It's not only unjust, but illegal with a maximum sentence of life imprisonment in Canada (something I learnt today studying for my criminology exam...heh).
Like an artist who posted earlier, put yourself in thier shoes. Piracy affects everyone in the gaming industry, and affects future of the very games you buy/pirate as well. Just think about it.
