OMG...I bet he is a MS employee and he literally left that in Gobi desert for a week. And MS paid FOX news to have that interview to make it look bad...seriously, the RROD should make it to the news not that messed up douchbag.

I know that Sony shouldn't be so stingy on that because they did replace my store's rental PS3, but that guy claimed that Sony said it's harzard is obvious a lie to make people hate Sony and sympathsize him, and anyone who owns a PS3 know that PS3 is very durable, no way it breaks down by measly dust. Juding from that picture, it's obvious that it's no dust, more like dirt!

Is this the story where the PS3 was REALLY dusty? Like the pictures have shown up here in the forums a few times in the past week or so? If so, FOX News should have shown those pictures if they wanted to present an unbiased story, instead of just sympathising with some kid who looks like he hasn't washed in the last week and who probably hadn't cleaned his PS3 once since he got it.pandadude01

I should watch the entire thing first. So they showed the pictures, and STILL claim Sony is in the wrong. Wow. They shouldn't have shown the pictures and most people wouldn't have seen how dusty it really was.

If i collect too much dust on my video card to make it overheat Nvidia is NEVER gonna refund me. It's just the way it goes...why does'nt that guy just and buy a 360 or a wii....instead of finding a way to get known on tv.

My advice to that guy : Your PS3 will be as dirty as your home. CLean your house and your PS3 will collect no dust.

Sure the thing is dusty no guff.. the thing collects dust like a maniac.. so by the looks of it this guy did not wipe of his ps3 since he bought it.. which was only a year ago and it should not void warranty like that..

sony should just give him a new one and avoid all this 360 like warranty crap. But the solution to this is quite simple.. make them send it back .. when the guy receives it just wipe it off and then send it back again stating that you took care of the hazardous material and it thus being safe to repair.

that should solve that.

i had my ps3 since launch...never wiped it ...a little dusty but ive never had a problem or anything even close to the problem the guy had...such BS ...probably paid to shove dust into the disk insert by microsoft

We all know that the PS3 has passed a test of going through a sona for x amount of time playing games without a problem and the going through extreme cold temps playing games without a problem.

A while back there was a guy on here that took his PS3 on tour with him to Iraq and with all the heat and sand it still worked for him although it had sever battle scares it still worked.

When will M$ hold up to this kind of treatment.

On another note on page 7 of the owners safety and support manual it states under vents " Do not allow dust to build up on the vents."

On page 6 it states "Do not expose the system or accessories to dust , smoke or steam....."

Since you know that all consoles gather dust, why wouldn't you blow it out with a can of air? I would imagine that his ps3 was pretty disgusting if Sony refused to replace it.

Would you expect someone like Toyota to replace a car because the owner didn't change the oil when it got dirty?

It doesn't really bother me that Fox showed this. Like the other 24 hour news channels, they have to fill the time somehow. Also, they had a consumer advocate on there which should be good for the rest of us, as his job is to try to keep the companies in check.

this is a joke. a lame one too. even my PC that has 5 cooling fans doesn´t get that dirty. that kid just messed up his console and tried to get away with it.

BTW, Fox is even worse than Brasilian TV. that is concerning.

If there is dust outside the console how can it affect it and if there is dust inside it shouldn't be that much. Opening the console voids the warranty so how can you blow the dust out? The fan and heatsink should be the only part with a little dust. If too much dust is getting inside then it's Sony's fault.

The guy could have at least wiped it off before sending it.
