FIRSTLY. people, if he wants to get a 360, dont have a go atm him wtf? Its his opinion.Saying he is dumb or stupid is going to make him dislike the ps3 more.
Its your decision and don't let people tell you otherwise however, ill explain why i opted for the PS3 (and im extremely happy with my decision) rather then then 360.
if you want to buy what the ps3 has, on the 360. It will come to MORE. For example, wireless technology, Blueray comes to like 150GBP. So a 360 = 280. 280 + 150 = 430. So 430 for the 360 to have what the ps3 has, and the ps3 drive is 40GB then the Preimum 360 atm. (I dont think they released their mass drive yet?)
AN ADDITIONAL PROBLEM WITH THE 360 : The system lacks. Microsoft is bringing out yet another system to compete, 200GB drive one. They probally will release more systems in the future so may end up going out to get the better one. With the ps3, it has everything pretty much. it has the blue ray, it has wirless capabilities and the internet. if you need mroe space on the ps3, you can go out and buy a drive! Possibilities are endless. (The main reason i chose ps3)
now if you go look at the 360 forums. A lot of the topics, they are all moaning about their 360's breaking. ALOT of people are on their 3rd 360's.
So yes, the 360 has more games atm. BUT, the ps3 is a better machine end of. Its solid like a brick. Its kinda rare to hear a ps3 failing, but common to hear of 360s breaking.

PS3 - If you dont want it now, just wait for a few games or another price drop. Im not having a problem with the lack of games atm. I brought 4 when i got my ps3 (a month ago) and im still kept very busy on them(although im going to exchange spiderman 3 for rainbow 6, but im going to wait because i still have my 3 other games im yet to be bored of). have a closer look at what games are out for the ps3, find a few you like, if you get the machine, by the time you played all the games to your happyness, more will have come out :D. Thats what im finding
360 : Microsoft said they were going to sort out how they were manufactoring their 360's to stop them breaking. Wait maybe 2-3 months for this to sort itself out.
Eitherway though. 360 was mass rushed out because microsoft wanted it out before the ps3.
Ps3 had a good few delays, was not rushed and i am AMAZED by it. Really, really enjoying having it.
I personally am going to get a 360 jsut yet but am going to wait(for microsoft to sort their stuff out, because they are like all failing). I dont need that many games for the ps3 because i just enjoy playing online with the games i have.
many360 owners have been very impressed with the ps3 and regret what they have said about it.
