You should play MGS4 first because I think it's the most epic ps3 game so far... If you like RPG's definitely get on Demon's Souls ASAP.MethodManFTW

I would say look into the story of MGS for a bit, and rent MGS4. Seeing how you're probably new to the series, you might not like it as much as someone who's played the previous 3 games.

Killzone 2 and Resistance 2 get very little love on this forum, but they're amazing. Then there's LBP, which is a good game to get if you have someone to play with.

Your list that you're thinking about is pretty solid.

Check out inFamous. There's a demo for it on the Playstation Store. It's typically regarded as being like Prototype, but better. I loved the game. Uncharted 1 and 2 are great games, the first being great, the second being AMAZING. For FPSs, Killzone 2 and Resistance 2 are really awesome games. Ratchet and Clank: Tools Of Destruction and A Crack In Time are great action / platformers (Note: TOD doesn't have trophies, but the game's really cheap now because it's a Greatest Hits title).

Basically, download these demos:

inFamous
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Killzone 2
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack In Time (There are 2 demos, one for Ratchet gameplay and one for Clank gameplay)
Valkyria Chronicles (if you haven't already)
Metal Gear Solid 4 (again, same as above)

There are plenty of great demos on the store. Just look around.

I would say MGS4 since it's my favourite game and really think it's the best game out there, it's my opinion, but I'd want you to check out the story first. Not checking out the story could result in you becoming one of those anti-mgs4 types who bash it and say it's overrated every chance they get.

Bottom line, a lot of people who didn't catch up with the story hated it. So if you don't feel like reading a lot on wikipedia and such then you shouldn't buy mgs4, since you'll get bored and confused to death by some 30 minute cutscenes here and there talking about something you don't understand.

I think you're in a bit of a problem with AC2. In order to understand the fundamental parts of AC2 and what makes it so mysterious at times you'd have to play through AC1, yet AC1 wasn't a good game. I bet you wouldn't like it. But anyways, if you get AC1 out of the way, AC2 is a great game, it's my GOTY.

Uncharted 2 is a great game, and lucky for you, Uncharted 1 is both very cheap and very short, so you'd get it out of the way immediately.

So to be safe, I recommend GTA4, RE5, Fallout 3, Dead Space andBioshock.

Prototype and Metal Gear is a must play. However, only play Metal Gear when you have time, since the story is much more complex than Prototype. Both are awesome.

Demon's Soul's really ain't that hard, it just takes getting used to!! Plus if you have your ps3 connected to PSN you can always summon blue phantoms to help you out.

All those games you'er planning to get are worth it. Even the ones I haven't played in that list I've heard good things about them. I'd rent Prototype since not everyone loved it. I think MGS 4 you might only enjoy if you've played other games from the series as well, or if you really enjoy stealth games. Two games that I'll recommend are ones that people seem not to are the two F.E.A.R games. You should also check out the recommendations thread that is the first post on the PS3 forum. I also really liked Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1 and 2.

I would get Assassins Creed 2, Batman Arkham Asylum & Uncharted 2

Dragon age origins I would skip for the ps3 version is not too good

If your new to MGS dont get MGS4 you have to have to have grown up with it in order to forgive its self-indulgence, it's like a looong bad movie with a little gameplay as an add-on. It's a real piss take! :P

Fallot 3 GOTY & OBlivion GOTY are still worth it if you are new to it

Wow you guys are giving him some pretty bad suggestions for his first titles. Here are some of my suggestions that should make you appreciate your PS3 more.

Uncharted 2, LittleBigPlanet, MGS4, Killzone 2. Dont know if you have GTA4 yet. Thats a game you shouldnt miss out on, but the first four titles I mentioned make the PS3 worth buying.
