Import PSP firmware?

I'm thinking about importing a white psp (Japan), the only thing that worries me is not being able to update the firmware.  Does anyone know if updating is possible, once i get it in the US, and if it is possible to update, is it difficult? 

Keep in mind i'm not a hacker, I don't want to play homebrews (Dark_Alex i'm not) :) I want a white one because it looks cooler to me.

I have a white psp which I personally bought from Japan, for updating your firmware just go to http://www.jp.playstation.com/psp/update/ud_04.html the only thing you can't do with your psp is watch UMD movies because they're region locked. Who wants to watch UMD movies anyway? :? if you want you can always import Japanese UMD movies lolz.
