Ive decided to dust off the good ol ps3 and im in need of a really fun multiplayer game. I love shooters and if i had to get one id prefer for the maps to be massive and veachiles would be a huge plus. If there is such thing as a rpg type multiplayer game. Anyone have any suggestions?

What you describe is "Battlefield 3". Also, "Call of Duty: World at War" has larger maps which have tanks on them, and the game is still fairly active. "Killzone 3" is a good game, and they have jet packs, as well as a larger-scale area of conflict.
Enjoy.
:)
I was really thinking of getting bf3 but idk why but i just could not get too into bf2 is there a possibilty id like 3 more? and i do own kz3 but i dont have any of the dlc for it are any of the newer maps for it any better?
Mmmmmm... If you didn't dig BF2 (I'm assuming you played on PS2, like I did?) then I maybe wouldn't go with BF3, because it's going to be more of the same, essentially. Capture'n'Hold gameplay, or similar objective and squad-focused goals and mechanics... I only played te KZ3 beta, but the way that game works is to play lots of different types of objective-based games in rotation on a larger over-all map, but the action focuses down to a given section for a given round. The thing about any of those titles is that they are very reliant on players working as a team, so falling in with a regular group where you're comfortable and can work well is imperative for enjoying the game (winning, in other words... :D )
"CoD: World at War" is going to offer you more Rambo play, but can be organized to your heart's content if you build a regular crew.
Outside those games, there isn't much in the way of combat involving vehicles unless you went to "Ace Combat" (which I don't recommend, personally) or one of the other flying games, but that really doesn't cover FPS.
"Starhawk", maybe?
:?
It's not out yet but the beta testing is going on... It doesn't look like my cuppa, but maybe you'd dig that... More a TPS with aerial combat mixed in, and certain RTS elements... Like I said, it makes me go soft, but perhaps you might like it. Lots of people are saying good things about it.
