Ive decided to dust off the good ol ps3 and im in need of a really fun multiplayer game. I love shooters and if i had to get one id prefer for the maps to be massive and veachiles would be a huge plus. If there is such thing as a rpg type multiplayer game. Anyone have any suggestions?

What you describe is "Battlefield 3". Also, "Call of Duty: World at War" has larger maps which have tanks on them, and the game is still fairly active. "Killzone 3" is a good game, and they have jet packs, as well as a larger-scale area of conflict.

Enjoy.

Mmmmmm... If you didn't dig BF2 (I'm assuming you played on PS2, like I did?) then I maybe wouldn't go with BF3, because it's going to be more of the same, essentially. Capture'n'Hold gameplay, or similar objective and squad-focused goals and mechanics... I only played te KZ3 beta, but the way that game works is to play lots of different types of objective-based games in rotation on a larger over-all map, but the action focuses down to a given section for a given round. The thing about any of those titles is that they are very reliant on players working as a team, so falling in with a regular group where you're comfortable and can work well is imperative for enjoying the game (winning, in other words... :D )

"CoD: World at War" is going to offer you more Rambo play, but can be organized to your heart's content if you build a regular crew.

Outside those games, there isn't much in the way of combat involving vehicles unless you went to "Ace Combat" (which I don't recommend, personally) or one of the other flying games, but that really doesn't cover FPS.

"Starhawk", maybe?

:?

It's not out yet but the beta testing is going on... It doesn't look like my cuppa, but maybe you'd dig that... More a TPS with aerial combat mixed in, and certain RTS elements... Like I said, it makes me go soft, but perhaps you might like it. Lots of people are saying good things about it.

Nah, BF3 is way better than BF2. I didn't enjoy it that much and I felt BF3 was waaay better :)

if your looking for an online rpg type of game, go for demons souls or dark souls. for a mp shooter, id say battlefield 3 sounds like your type of game. much improved compared to bf2 back in 06 trust, though ive never played it on the ps3, only 360. dont know how the community is.

I assume you're asking about BF3, but c'mon. People have told you it's good already. Several posts, including my own, have told you that according to your stated criteria, "Battlefiled 3" is what you're probably looking for - It's technically well-done, has a very active community, etc., etc. Then there are the myriad reviews on this and other sites, both text and video, and you just answer back "Tell me more". It sounds more like you need a salesman than a friendly fellow gamer's advice... At some point I think you need to nut up and make your own conclusions; pull the trigger or don't. I'm not trying to sound like I'm jumping your ****, so don't read tone into this that's not there. But no one can garauntee you'll like a game, and that's sort of what you're asking for when you ask "Is it really that good?"

The question has been answered to the best of our ability. Past that, it's on you, man.

:|

Peace be with you.

Your description of gametype you were looking for made me think BF3 but...if you didn't like BF2 I don't know...I never played BF2 but loved BF3. Though I have it on the PC so I don't know about PS3 gameplay. I'd still recommend it.

Yeah sounds like BF3 is the only game that fits your description. Maybe try Warhawk or wait for Starhawk but i never played that so research for yourself first.

As much as I like the game, I can't really agree.

:|

HOWEVER - This is a good alternate suggestion as it involves vehicles, and it IS a fun game, especially now that BF3 came out and lots of folks got it for free. WHICH - Is something TC should think about in terms of buying BF3, because then TC gets BOTH games.

:D

So... Good-****. Well played. I agree. But if you want 1943, just get BF3 and save money.

:)

There's Battlefield Bad Company 1 and 2 (both of which are good if you can get a full game, which is why I'd say go with BC2 since it seems like a good amount of people prefer playing that online for the PS3 over BF3).

Of course Battlefield 3 as has been mentioned quite a few times now. If you get this try to find the limited edition so you can play the select maps they updated from BF2.

Starhawk should be similar to what you want, and from what I've played of the beta it's a very fun game online.

I'm not sure if the servers are still active, but Warhawk has all the stuff you mentioned, just in 3rd person (as is Starhawk). Though, there's probably a good chance that a majority of players are long time veterans of the game and are very good, so there may be a steep learning curve as a result of that.
