i am looking at buying an older (phat) psp from a friend. i am worried that it might be a waste of money as new features might not be compatable. i just read that the upcoming skype feature wont work on the older model.

so my qustion is- are there other things that the older model cant do? ive read that the slim has more ram: does that make it better for viewing websites than the phat model?

The Slim can load games faster, it can connect to TVs to play music, videos, and view photos (you can play games via HDTV), and it will eventually use Skype, as you're well aware. The downside, the battery it comes with is far inferior to the original model's battery.

ok, so the slim loads games faster /can connect to tv / skype support. anything else? ive read also that gps support is soonbecoming available overseas. does anyone know if it eventually becomes available over here, will the phat model be able to do that?

I think it has brighter screen and you can watch tv via add-on such as the psp camera!

what is phat?!, but if you mean - can the original psp support camera-yes, watching tv- no, gps- yes(i think), but if you are going to buy a psp better take the psp slim , 'cause psp 2 is coming (maybe - check my post if you like 'psp - 2009.')

Old PSPs are still good but they won't be compatible with the new PSPs features. But they can still play games and that is what matters, right. I am not recomending to get an old PSP but they should be fine. Yes they are still good.
