Never trust what people say. I played Castlevania and there was enough difference that I didn't even think about God of War. And you're asking if getting two PS2 games on a system that doesn't have the best reputation for backwards compatibility in HD for 30-40 bones is worth it? lolwut?
I'm thinking of getting it but I heard it's exactly the same as Castlevania Lords of Shadow....ImBleedingLAWLSir you have it backwards, Castlevania LOS is a rip of GOW... and to answer the question, I'd look for the game at a gamespot instead of downloading it.
Yes, it's definitely worth it. Both will last you about 10 hours a piece (more if you want to collect all the trophies). They look great in HD as well except for the cutscenes which they decided not to upgrade in HD. Everything else though looks great running in 60 frames per second.
For those you "correcting" him, he didn't say God of War copied Lords of Shadow. He just saidit seems the same. So, he didn't get anything backwards. Whichever onecame firstmakes no difference, if you have one, it might make the other less worth it, if it's a good, well made copy.
That being said, I never played Castlevania, so i can't really answer the TC's question. I just wanted to say that.
Castlevania was a side scrolling game in its origins. God of War I and II came out on PS2 and were utterly amazing. Definately pick up the collection so you can play them on the PS3. Not sure why you never played the originals back on the PS2 but won't get into that. And yes Castlevania, Dante's Inferno, and a number of others saw how popular god of war's hack and slash style was and utilized it. Its not copying, its not rip offs. Its just a genre.

I've played all five God of Wars and Castlevania LOS and can safely say that the collection is worth it. It's really not too similar to LOS with the exception if the combat. The whip in LOS feels like the Chains of Olympus, and Mercury Steam obviously borrowed some elements from GOW.
GOW 1 and 2 are a couple of the best games ever made. Incredible what Sony Santa Monica accomplished on the PS2.
I'm thinking of getting it but I heard it's exactly the same as Castlevania Lords of Shadow....ImBleedingLAWLU got it the other way around castlevania IS LIKE god of war u see god of war came out like 5 years ago... and hell yeah is worth it one of the best games ever made for the playstation franchise so succesfull that games like castlevania copied the same mechanics (Even though Castlevania is pretty good too i love both)

No, he did NOT get anything backwards. They are both like each other! Jeez...

Well actually... likeI said in my first post in the thread, I haven't played Castlevania. My point is just that, if Castlevania is like God of War, then the reverse is also true. The TC may be wrong about them being the same, I don't know. But people are saying he got it backwards. But no, it's not backwards.Exactly is way off, it is God of War 1 and 2 with slightly updated graphics. Castlevania copied alot from the GoW series as well as a few more.wooooode-I'm worried because of Castlevania is similar to God of War, then I'll end up being bored with GoW within a week. Castlevania was boring because all you did was do the same thing over and over again. Which was button mashing. And plus, the game was incredibly hard. Even on normal mode. It wasn't even called normal. I think it was called "Knight" mode or something. - But I do admit, when I first played it, I was utterly amazed. It was so incredibly fun...but it's tooo bad the fun factor didn't last long. Hopefully, GoW is better and will keep me interested for years and years to come :)
Yes, definitely worth it IF you haven't played the series AT ALL.
Definite NO NO. If your PS2 is still alive. You can get the games for dirt cheap brand new and they still look gorgeous.
IMO, of course.
IMO the God of War serious is extremely overrated.... the combat aspect of it is fairly generic, and only a few boss fights are really good. The puzzles are where it shines, and the story is decent.WhiskeyBlade55I lul'd when I read this comment that was followed by the DMC sig and icon. Classy.
I lul'd when I read this comment that was followed by the DMC sig and icon. Classy. What's so wierd about that? I find DMC to be much better then God of War as well actually. The only part I disagree with are the puzzles... I find them to be the worst part. The combat is kinda fun, but nothing special in my opinion.[QUOTE="WhiskeyBlade55"]IMO the God of War serious is extremely overrated.... the combat aspect of it is fairly generic, and only a few boss fights are really good. DMC is the same genre, but the combat still feels quite different.

It's not too deep of a combo system, God of War relies more on quick combos and then a dodge or block than anything else. It's about patterns and timing. I'll disagree on the boss fights though, the majority of those have been fantastic, better than any I've seen in any other franchise. Puzzles are good with the exception of some of the ones in God of War III, don't see where you're coming from with the story though, there's really not much there at all.
If you have not played God of War 1 & 2 before Then pick up this Collection because these games are worth another play though. Or if you into collecting trophies.
I have both the original PS2 versions and I'm not really into gathering trophies. So I didn't buy this Cod of War Collection. But if you need to catch up then yes it is worth it.
If you played they games on the ps2 i would say no don't get it. If you haven't however then I would say get it now lol I hadn't played them on ps2 because I has an xbox last gen but they were so much fun and I had a ton more fun playing the 3rd god of war after going through the first and second game. I've had fun with games before without playing the prequel but I don't think the same could be said for god of war it had a brilliant story
GOW 1,2 and 3 walk all other Castlevania because everyone knows Castlevania is a bad rip off of GOW.
i played the those games on PS2 and they were, are, absolutely fantastic. at that price, and with two of the best games from last gen, there is just no way you can go wrong with this package. check out IGN's reviewfor more details.
and no disrespect to Konami, but GOW totally destroys LOS, which isn't even the best game of the franchise.
