Like can't you just walk outside? Why does everyone want to live on the playstation all the time? lol it makes me laugh how much people look forward to something that is just outside there front door.Nasty_butler_9
I can see where your coming from, because now you will be go over to your buddies house without leaving your bed .. making us EVEN lazier .. I might see what it's about but it's not like I am waiting anxiously for it either ..
Im not trying to sound offensive but it doesnt seem like you have read into the home feature yet. Home is a community, yes there iscommunity outside of everyones home in reality, but home creates a gameing community filled with opther ps3 gamers. This enables us to share items, info, trophies, game facts, and personal profiles which are fully customizable. One could say it is aliving breathing forum where gamers can communicate and game together online. It sounds pretty cool to mejaygun007
here is my issue with Home though. everything you mentioned can be done from the XMB. Sony will most likely make it so that you can do those things from the XMB (which would make PSN like XBL... but for free). so why is everyone interested in Home itself (the creating apartments, watching movies on a virtual TV, etc)?
my opinion... make PSN like XBL, but free. Sony fanboys will never admit it, but other than the aspect of paying for everything, MS got it right when it came to its online structure... minus the lack of user generated content support and server support.
I like the idea of Home. I won't use it constantly but it will be cool to try out and see what others do; plus, meeting new PS3 owners isn't a bad thing. Zassimick
just playing devil's advocate... but can't you meet other people through playing online games. my XBL and PSN friends list is mostly comprised of people that i enjoyed playing online games with.
Playstation Home sounds amazing to me. Just because it's just an easier way to see your friends and play together. Rather than inviting them to games. You can set up an invite for 7 oclock. Then they can all come to your "Personal Space" (House, Loft etc.) then you all meet up in a 3D world exchange pictures, videos, and stuff then you can all play your game from your personal space. How does that not sound cool?
Home basically makes online gaming easier...for free!

ShotCore
how is doing all of that easier than just creating a room (say a 16 player team deathmatch in GRAW2) and sending invites at 7pm?

lol Well of course you can, my problem is I don't own any online multiplayer games yet. I own NGS, Oblivion and AC; I was going to buy UT3 or The Orange Box but I figured I would wait to see if a patch if coming for The OB. Plus, when playing Live at a friend's, I don't typically talk to a player or add one because he was good, though my friend has done it.
Meeting people through games doesn't dismiss the idea of also meeting people who are walking around in Home though. I think its a great way to connect users together and create a community.
because it is easier to launch a game. have you seen demonstrations of this? and when you're in a lobby of a game you cant exchange photos or add a new friend can you? you have to exit the game and then add them. in home you can just add someone then connect and do randomness with them. ShotCore
using XBL as an example... but while in a game lobby you can just pull up the XBL guide, where you have access to your friends list and messages. sending invites, adding new friends, doing voice chat, and sending messages (which would make it possible for people to send photos. not sure if XBL can do it... but they atleast have the means to do it) can all be done without even exiting the game lobby.
HOME has a lot more to offer than what everyone is seeing at this time. The main square where people will be going through to reach certain areas has a nice section of board games including a chess area. Then there is a game room with pool tables and pin ball games. These areas are like a waiting room while your waiting for friends.
As for F@H I leave my system folding anytime I am not using it for anything because who knows one day it may help someone close to me or maybe myself one day.

why the heck does PSN need to be like XBL? it is fine the way it is and if you don't like it , then sell your PS3 and stop bringing up XBL on the PS3 forums. their discussing about home not xbl. I think home its a good idea insteand of copying xbl wish was good.

here is where i don't understand where fans of Home who claim that it is a great idea. they keep saying that Home is a great idea... but they don't give me points on why they think that.
the only person in this thread that has given me a valid reason was the one who said that he primarily owns single player games on his PS3, meaning that he does not have a multiplayer game where he can interact with other PS3 gamers. so for him... Home could be a nice way for him to interact with friends... although i don't see how doing that would be better than going onto this forum (where there are a lot of PS3 gamers here) or him using AIM, Myspace, or Facebook to interact with his real life friends. does having a moving avatar where you can dress him up and give him an apartment make communicating with others better? and do you really find having people in your apartment, playing music from your HDD, and selecting the /dance action exciting?
and to the person who said that you can play chess, pool, and other games in the virtual world... you can just play Yahoo games. Sony should just have these games available through the PSN store. if you want to build a community around all these minigames... Sony can just separate bowling, chess, pool, etc. from the PSN store, make a new XMB sub-slot under the Playstation Network called Sony Arcade, and have it basically run like Yahoo games. just have people sign into a game lobby where they can chat with others and decide who they want to play with. why the hell someone would want to walk through a Virtual Game Room and wait to play Chess since there are only less thana dozen tables filled with players is beyond me.

I don't play games online too much(other then cod4 on 360), so this might help me make new friends on PSN. Then again I might not use home much either.

So why is this bickering you? Why would it matter to you if Sony decided to add another form on MSN, AIM, or any other social entertainment in Sims like example.
You have something personal against it?
You should not include all PS3 population into your opinion. Some look forward to it, some dont. HOME to me is nothing more then interact with PlayStation 3 community because we share same passion for gaming.
Additional forms or entertainment like pool, or watching movies are fun in my opinion.
i'm personally just trying to understand Home's appeal to others. i have asked already if hanging out in a virtual apartment is fun. i have also asked if dancing with others (via button select) is fun as well. no one has answered these questions... other than saying Home will be fun in a generalized statement.
also... i feel that Home is a waste of Sony's time AT THIS CURRENT MOMENT. Sony is promising Home to be in two layers: the first layer is the Virtual World itself... the second layer being in-game XMB and its integration with Home's extra features. i have yet been given a reason why i should wait for layer 1 when layer 2 is so much more important IMO. how big of a jab would Sony have given to MS if Sony were to release layer 2 (which would be on par with XBL if Sony can do everything that they have promised) for free?
so my gripe with Home is that Sony is waiting to release ALL of there features (both layers 1 and 2) at the same time, which means a longer wait. i mean... how many times has a promised beta of Home been delayed? my personal thought is that Sony should have delivered in layer 2, then go on from their and create Home to deliver layer 1.

You make some valid points, and I agree with most of them. This is definitely a large project with many promises.
I'm sure there will be bugs to fix as nothing is perfect. The wait is long indeed..
Ok wel sooorrry, everyone is so spastic on this site holy crap, and besides, it obviously isn't JUST ME because other people have already posted that they agree with me, and I mean watching a movie on a virtual TV? come on. I think trphies and satuff would be cool, but esentially you are living a 2nd life, again I think meeting new people to play games with is ok, but tht what GS is for? (well at least a little bit) I'm casting my opinion and all you can do is come out and call me a moron, just proves your wrong, its sad how people can do nothing but flame when there opinions are contradicted, when the truth is, you cant admit your wrong, im sure people agree with me how PS Home is just another way sony is brain washing people to sit on there butts and do nothing but PS3. I ow na PS3 and I love it, but I do get 8 glasses or water and I do get 12 hours of sleep, and I do workout every other day, THIS IS JUST MY OPINION but PS Home sounds like a way for people to escape reality which is ok, but people need equal doses of a TV screen, and Mother Earth.Nasty_butler_9
First things first.
You created a very impolite topic that belongs to System Wars. Why? Because you can't take criticism and are only believing in your own mind. You are only right - no one else is.
Second, how do you know what the truth is when it comes to HOME? How do you know who will enjoy it and who won't? We can't admit we are wrong? This is you, alone, trying to tell all PS3 community on this website that we are wrong in our own opinions?
Do you see just how amusing you sound?
I'll tell you the fact.
You posted wrong topic on wrong forum. Just as you are blaming us for being "wrong", all you're doing is non-respecting our opinions. How can you except that we respect yours when you're the only "right" one in here..
You earn respect, not demand it.
