[QUOTE="jaygun007"]Im not trying to sound offensive but it doesnt seem like you have read into the home feature yet. Home is a community, yes there iscommunity outside of everyones home in reality, but home creates a gameing community filled with opther ps3 gamers. This enables us to share items, info, trophies, game facts, and personal profiles which are fully customizable. One could say it is aliving breathing forum where gamers can communicate and game together online. It sounds pretty cool to mec0mplex
here is my issue with Home though. everything you mentioned can be done from the XMB. Sony will most likely make it so that you can do those things from the XMB (which would make PSN like XBL... but for free). so why is everyone interested in Home itself (the creating apartments, watching movies on a virtual TV, etc)?
my opinion... make PSN like XBL, but free. Sony fanboys will never admit it, but other than the aspect of paying for everything, MS got it right when it came to its online structure... minus the lack of user generated content support and server support.
then they didnt get it right....
you say it is a wasteof time and money. my space, 2nd life millions apon millions go to these sites it is the biggest casual thing going right now. so how come for sony to do it it is a waste of money. i like the idea only because of the arcade/ movie theatre. i like pool games so that is a plus. can i care less about the appartment thing yes. i like the room with all the tv's that have game trilers on them. GARRYTH
Home is not like myspace. XBL has more similarity with myspace, as it focuses customized pages (the dashboard and profiles in XBL, webpages in Myspace) where users can express themselves via user names, pictures/icons, and small bios.
Home is closer to Second Life... which despite a very funny "The Office" episode, is not as popular as people think it is. the number of unique users is around 500,000, which is very small for an MMO. to gain some perspective... WoW, the most popular MMO, is 9-9.5 million users. granted, Sony would love to see the influx of money from corporations, which these companies misguidedly do for Second Life.
but considering that the current closed beta is usually empty (which has been stated by many of those people in the beta), i can't see how doing Home RIGHT NOW can bring in more profit than to have a huge selling point of "you PAY for XBL... PSN is FREE" so they can get more consoles out and build on their rather small userbase.

if only life was so binary.
the fact that MS is getting people to pay for their online structure says something about how they are getting things right.
The thing about the real outside is that I can't just go up to some random stranger and say "Hey, want to go play COD4 online?" It would probably be some old guy walking his dog and he'd probably say, "What is cod four?"
But if I try that in Home, I bet I'll find some people fast. Also, I want to design a home that I could never afford in real life. Plus you can play chess and pool and stuff.
