Is it normal that the PS3 takes longer to shut down if you do it while playing?

Is it normal that the PS3 takes longer to shut down if you do it while playing a game? Because I was playing and then turned of the PS3 and then the blue and green light works together for like 15-20 sec and it shuts down. When im in the PS3 menu and shutting it down it takes much less time.

It usually take longer when I turn it off with the browser open or from inside a game. I wouldn't worry if I were you.

Yes its normal. Its taking that extra time to actually close out the game and save settings and what not. Its just got extra work to do is all. I think its better to close out of your games before you shut down though. Just a tip.Nephilim83

well, since sony has never said that you have to exit games or exit your browser before shutting your system down, I wouldn't say that it is how its "suppose" to be done.

Do you think sony would provide you with an option through the XMB menu to shut the system off while in a game if it affected the system in a negative way?

Come on now. What you do is a personal preference, it is not how it is "suppose" to be done. I wish you would stop passing that off as fact.

Now, to the OP. It is normal for the system to take a little bit longer to shut down since it has to close the game and do the saving and such by itself before going to sleep, since you didn't do it manually :). Your ps3 is fine !
