Haze is actually a pretty decent shooter. I find the alpha-male attitudes to be humerous and is intentional. The story is interesting to say the least but nothing that really draws you in. I actually find the music to above average from what I'm heard in other games. Haze is a decent shooter and is worth playing. For $60 when it came out, probably not. I purchased it off ebay for $10 and was well worth it.
Lair, on the other hand, is a mix bag. The orchestrial score is nothing short but bliss. Can really help set the scale of some of the scenarios. The story-line is well done and the voice acting is above average. Really, it just boils down to the controls. I fiddled with both the motion controls and with the added patch. Just to let you know first off, you still have to do some of the motion controls with the anologue control like doing a 180 degree turn. You really have to take it easy with the motion and not go nuts. It turn, it takes a lot of time to get used to it and will become second nature(it's not as bad as some say, there's just a very large learning curve to it all). Though, with the analouge controls, the game does run a tad smoother and found myself controling the dragon with little difficulty and would suggest any person not willing to learn the motion controls for flying to use the dual analogue sticks. Even with the control of the dragon pretty much remedied for the most part, the stake the really nails the coffin a bit is the lock-on. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't lock on what you want and it's annoying to say the least.
Overall:
- Haze is a far better choice than Lair: is actually a good shooter.
- Lair: Large learning curve for the motion controls but with the patch, it's a pretty easy to control.
- You will hate the lock-on feature in Lair and is the only thing I have against the title.
- Lair, for what it is, is still a very cool dragon game and is well worth within the $10-$20.
