Is MGS4 the best in the series?

I have a bias because I only really got into MGS4. With that being said, MGS4 was my favorite. It had a superb story, graphics, gameplay, and a great ending!

All 4 are masterpieces of gaming!!

MGS4= Best Technology(Octocamo,MK2,Solid Eye)

MGS3=Best Boss Battles(The End,The Boss,The Sorrow)

MGS2=Best Action(The Bomb)

MGS1=Most Innovative(Was The First,Phyco Mantis, The Ketchup:P)

i do think mgs4 is the best in the series. The story was good even though it was a little out there and extremely hard to believe but stories in games don't need to make exact sense. I loved the gameplay and just everything about it, def. think it's the best in the series

2 was my least favorite personally though i thought they were all really good.

The gameplay in MGS4 is the best imo, but I thought MGS3 story was slightly better.

Having played all 7 parts in the story (so far) I'd rank them:

For me I'd have to Say MGS3.

In my opinion its the worst, MGS4 is one of my most disappointing games of all time, it's up there with deus ex 2. I'm still wondering how they wrote such a horrible story when the other games in the series have same of the best storys ever:? especially after the amazing story in MGS3.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is the best in the series or best game ever made in my opinion, it got me to E309, it's true.

3 was my favorite i like MGS 4 but it has long cutscenes

3 resonated with me significantly, it was actually haunting, especially the last boss fight. 2 was a confused mess, and 1 was good for the time, but I never felt it aged well.

As for 4, it was good, I enjoyed it, but for whatever reason, it was still a bit forgettable for me.

most people I know consider MGS3 best of series, it's the only one i haven't played. so I consider MGS1 best of series.

Well looks like I just made matters worse. :P I vote for Snake Eater. Gameplay just had an extra layer of depth that was removed in MGS4. Whenever I saw a small creature in MGS4 running around I just wanted to kill and eat it. :P Not to mention the whole healing aspect. I also think I enjoyed the boss fights a tad more, especially the segments with with The Sorrow and The End.

alot of MGS3 supporters but from a gameplay standpoint MGS2 beats it. MGS2 still had the diverse gameplay of MGS1 while MGS3 was manily just make ur way from one end to the other.PSP107

No, I think many will say it's the best in the series (I certainly would), but everyone has their opinions. There may have been some backlash because of the hype and perfect 10 scores, but for the most part people love it. And then inevitably there are the people who hate it because everyone loves it so much.

MGS1 will probbaly forever remain the most revolutionary in the series, but as a personal favourite, MGS4 takes the top spot (with MGS3 a close second). Love MGS2 immensly as well ;)

I didn't like it as much as Snake Eater. I thought most of the story was drawn out and just two heavy handed in MGS4. For me it just didn't have the same flair as it's previous entries.
