So I know there has been a lot of debate about this, people saying things like "Mortal Kombat is the fighting game for people who don't like fighting games", and I am just wondering what you think. Since i have yet to be able to play online, its tough to say, but just from the single player, I agree with the statement but I hardly think its a bad thing. I am a really really inexperienced fighting game player (none prior to this), but this game feels accessible and fun to me. So what do you think?

It is extremely fun. I think it does cater to the casual fighting gamer... but I'm certain online is a challenge with the people that are omgawsum. I don't think we'll ever have fighting games as difficult as any of the ones we had on the Genesis or SNES.

Who is going to debate that it is not noob friendly? It totally caters to noobs, and I prefer it that way.

You'd be surprised. You might get a few of those people that have trouble with it that'll say otherwise. lmao.

Practically every fighter except VF is noob friendly. Fireballs especially attract people

it's friendly to noobs but it has a degree of difficulty and depth too. A lot noobs pick scorpion but you get online you run into a few people who know how to destroy you. Kinda like the Tekken of 2D fighting platforms and SSFIV is like VF...except there's more spam in SSFIV

You won't get good answers here. Ask this on a legitimate fighting site like shoryuken.com or something.

Yes, it's very accessible but don't take that as a euphemism for "casual". It's very easy to pull off the moves and have some fun but there's definitely room for the hardcore audience.

I do believe it is newb friendly. While it has a lot of depth for better players to completely out-class newbies, it is also very forgiving with the timing for button inputs for attacks.

Well, my wife has never played a fighting game before, and she picked it up very fast. And surprisingly, she doesn't even button mash. But yes, compared to say Street Fighters 4, MK9 is much more noob friendly, but also has a great system for veterans.
