Is my PS3 broken!? Please Help!

A week ago I tried to put a DVD into my PS3 and it would go in fine but wouldn't be read or anything. I thought nothing of it at the time but today I tried to put in games and blu rays and they go in and nothing happens! They don't appear under the video or game tabs and they should be read when I put the disc in anyways. There some weird setting I hit or has anyone experienced this!? Thanks in advance!

that happen to me the other day, now im waiting for my box. this sucks since im on spring break.

Does anyone from the UK know how much this will cost to get fixed and where the best place to get it fixed would be.

I got the console free with a phone contract, and that was tough enough, so I would imagine trying to get a replacement would be nearly impossible.

Any advice would be welcome.

If you got it free with the phone contract, I would go back to them. Complain to the phone people and threaten to return your phone, cancel your plan, fight the payments etc. Make a scene. People selling phones most likely work on commission and they don't like having stuff returned. I bet you they will replace it just to shut you up.

Someone's console bricks, you get some ******* here laughing in his face about it on their own forums, and that is fine? People that go HAHA YOUR CAR GOT KEYED SUCKS FOR YOU are the worst kind of scum imaginable, and I find it telling that the Mods think comments like this are fine. Laugh in their face over a real problem, you go girl, call someone a douche and you get banned for a week. That is character.

As it turned out, they were very helpful and have immdiately offered to replace it and pay the postage. Oh me of little faith.
