I've noticed lately my PS3 Slim turns itself off overnight.

My slim has breathing room and is well elevated and my house is relatively cool. I play it for hours on end but I realized that in the mornings that it mysteriously turns itself off at some point in the night, completely. I'm puzzeled as to if this is overheating or an issue with my surge protector.

there is a option in the settings where ur ps3 turns off after it being idle for some time, maybe u enable it? or maybe ur brother, mother or dad comes in ur room and turns it off? so electric bill wont go up lol. i mean i doubt anyone here would be able to help u.....but also i did hear and read in the manual of the ps3, that if it does overheat and needs rest or w.e it turns itself off automatically

Nope, I turn it off when I'm finished and it goes into the stand-by mode like all the slims do. But when I see it in the morning it's completely off and the red light isn't there. I literally have to unplug it and replug it to get it to work again.

try a different outlet tonight and seeif it does the same thing like if your using the top outlet use the bottom, it could be the issue or maybe that outlet is connected to a light switch that can be the case sometimes not sure if you have been in your place for a while or not

You should turn it off completely anyways. Why waste power.

I didn't realize the slim model could turn off "completely" I power it off every night, but the red light always stays on.

lol when the system is in standby its using next to no energy. Turning it off "Completely" aka unplugging it is not going to save the planet and really only serves to hassle you.
