Is PlayStation Network currently down?

Hi, I recently got home and tried to log into PSN several times and it just keeps "signing in" and that's it. I'm on a direct connection and ran a test and it obtained my IP and other aspects just fine, but with PSN it says "fail".

All the other items in my house work just fine. I know PSN is going to have a big update for the PSN Store, so perhaps that has something to do with it? I'm in the United States btw.

I searched online but couldn't find anything.....

It seems we are not alone. There are numerous reports popping up across the internet right now of several other PSN members having issues as well. While some can sign in, they are finding their experinece very slow and cannot view their friends list.

Others simply cannot sign in at all. Many PSN members are also reporting trouble with their downloads. Something is definately going on but Sony doesn't seem to be answering questions relating to it on the PS Blog.

Maybe if we leave enough responses they'll listen. They can't ignore all of us.

PSN Performance Issues 11/1/12

Dude i was downloading MoH last night so i let it download on its own all night then i woke up today and see that the PS3 was still on and the download being stuck at 91%.. thats not all after i restarted the system the PS3 started getting really slow, started to get stuck every 2 minutes so in the end it started to say HDD is not good.. its been sitting on restore mode for over 4 hours... been really mad but yeah i dont know whats going on today -_-

the menu takes forever to open and close for me, hurricane might have messed up the servers

Im loged in, but keep getting error messages trying to update account info or trophies.

PSN F'up again, not mentioning the new store... Sigh

I noticed something was strange because when I turned my PS3 on it didn't download any new game updates (us Plus Members get auto updates).

I guess this just recently happened and I left a comment on the PlayStation Blog about it, but no responses from Sony as of yet. Apparently some people can sign in but they find it extreamely slow and they can't view their friends list.

Oh god and i thought it was my own PS3's fault :(... turned it off from the back like 3 times as the system got really slow and now the system been restoring for over 4 hours :(

The new store is terrible btw.. Hope you're all looking forward to it! Oh and dont download full game unlocks before the trial.. If you do it completely removes the option to download the trial. doll94

I was looking forward to the Store, what's wrong with it exactly? As for the bold, that seriously sucks. Completely stupid.

Anyway I posted this in SW as well to get more attention to it, unfortunately that attention will probably be fanboy hyperbole garbage. But at least it draws more attention to this issue.
