I know that PS3 games are region free and that I can play games from America on the PS3 I bought in the UK, but I was wondering if I bought an NTSC PS1 game, would it work on the PS3 bought in the PAL region?

Thanks.

No, it won't. PS1 and PS2 are region-locked games. You have to use a PS3 from the same region if you want to play PS1 and PS2 games.

Wrong, it won't work. I have a PAL ps2 game that doesn't work on my ps3, cuz the game is region locked.

I wanted to buy the first one again, I sold it for some reason. It costs a lot less for an NTSC version than a PAL one.

I can confirm. I bought an american PS3 and no PAL DVDs or games will play, and also, neither will some Blu-rays.

PS2 and DVD's are region locked along with some other sources of media. The best thing is just get the games or movies from your region (except PS3 games that so far are not region locked).
