Smaller space, a lot quieter, cooler, and cheaper. Its the same thing, just slimmer. If you really want a PS3 with BC, pick up a 60GB or 80GB (make sure the 80GB has 4 USB ports though) on ebay. You could get the 20GB model but it has no wifi.

Doesn't it use less energy as well? And yes if you really want BC, get an older 4USB model of the PS3.
I think I'll just get the Slim, I don't mind having my PS2 plugged in.
EDIT: It won't offer BC at release, but a possible firmware update can change that...or so I've heard :P...but apparently it plays PS1 games? No luck with PS2 games though.

Last I check, Tekken 6 is comin for the 360. Tekken was always a playstation/arcade game. Now it's comming for the 360. Shame on Sony on there behalf, and did i forget to mention that if sony didnt bring price cuts to their console, Activision would stop suporting them. Which means they would of lost the Call of duty series........Sony needs to get a grip [

There's the problem: Said patent doesn't address the Graphics Synthesizer (GPU) whatsoever. It's only for emulating the Emotion Engine (CPU), which technically has already been done.
