Please forgive me if this already come up, but i'm new to the world of PSP. I recently bought one but noticed that the number of games in the bargain bin far exceeds the number of new games. This makes me question the remaining life of the PSP. So is this system dying or do you think Sony is going to make a new PSP?

I get the feeling that Sony is not focusing much on the PSP. There are not that many new inventive games on the market. Its still a way cool and useful gaming device though and you should not be dissapointed with the games out already. There is a lot of fun to be had. :)

i really like the psp. When i was new to it, i also noticed how many games they had compared to other systems. I really hope that sony re-"bangs" the psp cos it does not have as much popularity as it used to. Less games, accessories and buzz. But even tho the good thing is that the bargains really help if u buy ur own games and u neva kno what ull find!

Long live the PLAYSTATION PORTABLE!

Far from it - lots of games coming out over the rest of the year, some of them will probably be the best the PSP has ever seen Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, Persona 3 Portable, Final Fantasy Agito XIII, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep and Mod Nation Racers are only a few of the titles that are dropping this year out of many more. I think quite the opposite, I think its never been more alive.

It's not dead, but it certainly isn't nearly as popular as the DS and its variants.

The PSP usually gets 2-3 REALLY good exclusive games.

This year is no exception...I argue this might be the best 1-2-3 punch EVER on the PSP. I will buy all 3 for my PSP Go. They look THAT good.

1. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker- Kojima...you had me at Snake...

2. God of War: Ghost of Sparta- Sign me up for another one of Kratos' crazy adventures!

3. Mod Nation Racers- Mark my words...with respect to handheld racers, this is Mario Kart evolved.

MGS, God of War, Final Fantasy, Valkyria Chronicles, Kingdom Hearts, Resident Evil on the way...nah. It's going through a second wind, there's surely another year and a half before the successor arrives.

Edit: Idiot. Just noticed I wrote "before" 3 times in a row :?

Mmm no not really ! the reason lots of games are in the bargain bin exceeds new games is because most stores dont buy new games for for the PSP anymore even though the selection has never been better. Pirating has killed game-sales for the PSP luckely for us Sony is still supporting the PSP and as said the collection has never been better.

PS we might see a PSP 4000 or even a PSP Phone after E3 but not a PSP2. I believe Sony wants toobut if people keeps pirating games and if they do we will not get a PSP2 !

No, its not dying, they just announced Ghost of Sparta. Peace Walker is also one of the major games coming this year. Not to mention ModNation Racers, Monster Hunter Freedom 3, PoP The Forgotten Sands and a couple of other games.

Good to hear that it's going to supported for a while longer. I bought Crisis Core and was blown away, other than that i've just been downloading PS1 games to it. I did notice that there were quite a few MAJOR games that are going to be released this year like MGS: Peace Walker. I'm still on the fence about getting just the game or going for the Big Boss Bundle (I has a blue PSP 2000). Is the 3000 that much better than the 2000 that I have?

You forgot Valkyria Chronicles 2, bro. That's gonna be huge for those who have played the PS3 original.

I can't believe I forgot VC2! Shame on me lol I loved it for the PS3 and Im sure the portable successor will be no different. I actually watched a video for it the other day, apparently Welkin, Alicia and Selvaria are recruitable in this game as extra characters. Here's to hoping they also bring back Vyse as well lol

I would blame the lack of releases in the past 2 years on the recession. Frankly if the PS2 isn't dead, then the PSP certainly isn't.

It's just that since use and new DS games sells more than the ones from the PSP Gamestop give little in trade int for then and sell then very cheap compare to the DS. Somewhat like the GameCube vs PS2 war.

Just today, as I went to go get SSF4 for ps3, I looked over what was available for the psp. Now, I don't even have mine yet--just finished paying off the BBbundle--but it felt a little disheartening seeing that a big retail shop like best buy had such a limited selection of games, almost half of which were greatest hits or "clearance." I saw Wipeout Pulse for 19.99--thought about buying it, and now I'm thinking I should be picking up games before they are too difficult to find, or take advantage of them being cheap. Personally I don't mind if there isn't a huge flow of games, but I won't lie and say it kind of feels like im just now buying a console on its last leg.

I was wondering the same thing. I have not played my in a very long time. The last game I bought for mine was Fight Night. Whats some of the newness that is out now. Most of the games on gamespot for PSP dont seem interesting. The handheld market has become very quiet.

Maybe there are some older games that I should look up. The GOW game sounds interesting.
