Hey all, I was thinking about getting a psp again. I have had many over the years and got bored of it after playing all the top games for it. However I really want to play many ps1 classic games such as final fantasy 7,8 and 9 also some crash bandicoot too ect. Is it a good idea to purchase a psp go just for the ps1 classics or is it pointless.

Sure. There are plenty of great PS1 classics on there, pretty cheap as well. And portable.

Vita will supposedly be able to play PSone games from launch from what I've heard so far (which I take with a grain of salt :P) So you could wait for it if you are interested in Vita at all. Otherwise I think it is, only problem I have with the Psone classics is that they don't update nearly as much as they should anymore...

I would just wait for the Vita. I will play all those PS1 classics as well as play downloadable PSP games and of course Vita games.

But if he is only interested in PS1 classics, then it will be pointless.

However, you could wait for the Vita and then buy the PSP go, it will probably bea lot cheaper when the Vita is released.

Not just the PSP Go. The normal PSP-3000 also does. I don't even have a PSP and never played one and I knew this.

I actually haven't gotten any yet but the PS1 Classics were one of the main things that factored into buying my PSP 3000. For whatever reason, I can never find a list of available titles on Sony's website. If it makes your descision any easier, the Wikipedia has a list:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PSone_Classics_A–M

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PSone_Classics_N%E2%80%93Z

Does anyone know if all the PS1 Classics are available for PSP or just select ones?

I think the regular PSPs can play ps1 classics too. If you want the go because it has a larger memory that allows you to buy more games then sure it's worth it. Other than that I think the earlier versions can do the job.

It's worth it especially if you're into RPGs, there are a lot of great RPG games on PS1 and of course some other PS1 classics.

If you really want to play Playstation 1 classics. Yes a PSP Go will do just fine, Since the games you want are on the PSN store. download them and go play them. So yes it is worth it.

only select PSone games are on the playstation network. some great games that are NOT on there are Ace Combat2, 3, the original Twisted Metal, Gran Turismo 1 and 2, Spiderman, Tony Hawk, Road Rash......

but yeah, a lot of GREAT ps1 games are on the psn, and they are priced "ok" usually. the original Resident evil for $10 is not bad, but some ps1 games arent worth the $5.99 minimum. the only game i've bought is Crash Bandicoot, and that game plays just like the disc version, and for $6, its a good price.

depends how cheap you can get one for. didnt sony announce that they were releasing a psp for about 100 euros? they did heres a link http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2011/08/16/new-psp-announced-at-gamescom-2011/although after further reading it might just be for europe. but im sure something like this would suit your needs. cheap, access to the psn store and umds.

Maybe. If that's all your going to use it for then I would just buy one of the older models used and buy a big memory stick...

Yeah, but it keeps the resolution, so it ends up looking sharper than the other PSPs.

Yeah, got monster hunter freedom unite on it and looks pretty nice for a handheld game alright. Seems to have alot of content aswell wich is nice.
