So I'm going to be traveling quite a bit these next few months and I would like to have some kind of entertainment when going from place to place and I was wondering if the Vita is worth the money mainly based on its currently available games and features. And if the Vita is worth the money, what games would you recommend. I don't have a preferred game type so anything entertaining will do.

Honestly its by far my favorite handheld. I had a 3DS and it stil felt 2 generations behind and the 3d element got tiresome. The vita is very much worth it since there are a ton of games out now (good ones) and there are a bunch on the way. Go for it.

Yes Psvita is worth it. I have bought 12 retail games thus far. The PSvita system is very impressive. So if you enjoy videogames You will find value in the PSvita. My only complaint thus far is the Price of the PSvita memory cards. I just have the tiny 4GB and will soon have to get a bigger memory card. They fill up fast.

So yes with Gravity rush around the corner. PSvita is worth getting.

Honestly I would say no, unless you can get a deal on the console itself or the memory cards. Gravity Rush, however, looks fantastic, and there are a couple of good games out already (all but one of them ports). Whether they're enough to get you to buy in is really up to you. Some of the launch lineup will become more compelling when it sees a price drop (Wipeout, Hot Shots, Uncharted, etc) as it's currently very heavy on revisiting games you've already played before.

Buying one now is just asking to get burned by a price drop. Regardless of what Sony says publicly, a price drop is absolutely going to happen.

That too. The system is doing too poorly to continue at its current price point, Sony's way behind their forecast and the company as a whole is in the tank so far that they need some good news for shareholders.

That and they're aiming for what? 10 million units by the end of the fiscal year?

Even with a 3DS-sized price drop of 80 dollars, they aren't even sniffing 10 million with their current lineup. I'd say 6 million is more reasonable.

I love the Vita and if money isn't much of an object can recommend it highly but it is expensive with a worrying lack of future.

Just wrote some stuff about it on my blog here - http://second-gen-gamer.blogspot.co.uk/ - might give you more ideas about the investment.

If you never got a psp then there are plenty of great psp games on the network that you can get if the vita games don't interest you. Right now I'm playing castlevania and it's pretty good.

If you're interested in playing PSP games, then yeah, it's worth it. But if you're looking at solely Vita games and you already own a PS3, no.

Watch this video if you like what you see in the video then go for it. Vita became my main source of gaming fix since I'm always at the office (I play it every breaktime) or away from home.
