Is there PS3 exclusive content for GTA IV?

At this point I don't care about exclusive content.

I just want the bloody game already!:cry:

Nobody knows the agreement M$ has with Rockstar. Possibly the content is exclusive on the 360 for 6 months? or maybe only these two pieces of content will never been allowed on the PS3? Or maybe this is all the downloadable content R* are going to do, and it'll be on the 360 only?

Either way, im getting the 360 version for it. A pity though, its gonna feel wierd playing the game without a dualshock:(

While Take Two has remained quiet on the release of exclusive episodic content for Grand Theft Auto IV, Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter believes it won't appear on the Xbox 360 until at least the fourth quarter of 2008.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Grand Theft Auto IV were originally due for release this October, with chief financial officer Laine Goldstein revealing that the first of two exclusive packages for Microsoft would follow in March next year.

However, since the release of the highly-anticipated crime sim was pushed back until at least April 2008, any release date for the downloadable episodes — which Microsoft reportedly paid USD 25 million each for — has been up in the air.

"We note that the USD 50 million deferred revenue for GTA episodic content was re****fied as 'long term,' implying a release date no earlier than Q4 2008," commented Pachter in a note to investors following publisher Take Two's latest financial status.

Wedbush Morgan predicts that Grand Theft Auto IV will sell around 8 million units at full-price, generating revenues of USD 400 million. And despite the the fact that future titles in the series could sell even more units, the analyst remain sceptical of the franchises profitability.

"We do believe that the GTA franchise has a great deal of potential, and think that future versions will sell more than the 8 million units we expect from GTA IV.

"However, we remain sceptical that future versions will be as profitable as past versions, as the Rockstar team has apparently taken its studio name to heart," commented Pachter.

DLC is only for the 360 only, I've looked into this however and it's rumored that the exclusivity deal runs until 2009.. unless Rockstar and MS thrash out a new deal (could be problematic due to a potential EA buyout) then the DLC is free to go to other platforms should the right offer or opportunity arise.

Make of it what you will, it could be just a misinterpreted rumor, maybe Rockstar will do 360 and PS3 specific DLC, who knows what the future holds.

Yeah I know... this is crazy. I just want to know what system I want to buy it for. The game is coming out right around the corner... they should tell us something. I won't preorder until I know what system I want to get it on. This sucks lol. Why can't they just release the same game on both systems and call it a freakin' day?

the terms of the contract were explained many times over. microsoft is loaning rockstar 50 million dollars and in return rockstar are making 2 exclusive packs for the 360.

I thought the main game consisted of 3 islands. Either way, MS getting 2 whole islands is a f*** load of content. They have to be small islands with limited amount of content, or if they are as big the main game, they'll be shelling out lots of MS points for Microsoft to get their $50 million back.

why would anyone get it on 360? yeah it may have exclusive content, but come on, we all played GTA on PS2, why would you give up your tradition or heritage something. come on, and playing it on a controller with the trigger is gas, damn, that ust feel akward.brownwhale

Personally i got GTA3 to San Andreas on the xbox and had GTA 2 on PSX so im going back to the PS.

Well, right know I just want to play the damn game.

All those 360 people are going to be sooo happy when they get their 2 extra islands. But when we get God of War 3, Home, Little Big planet, MGS etc. they'll be crawling over to the Sony side... Hehe. :twisted:

That would be true if the DLC was free, but I highly doubt it will be free. So really $60 will take you just as far on both consoles.

I agree. Though the PS3 is supposed to have some kind of motion control. So that could give it a slight edge.

who cares? R* said that they would make next gen games exlusively for PS3 after they Made GTA IV. so we could get a remake of san andreas or a GOTY release of it with the stuff..( i dont remember where they said they would make next gen games for ps3 after thoe). any way pick up those pitchforks we gotta fight the X-bots too :twisted:after they start laughing that they get the exlusive content:lol:.

That's from back in Feb when it was just a rumor still. I don't remember if it was proven, but I know it was never disproved by R*.
