Its an "action" "adventure" game the "action" comes from the third person shooting and the "adventure" comes from the platforming segments. As far as I'm concerned it can't be action without the TPS and it can't be TPS without the action. Weither you want to use the word action or not its still a TPS. It's like how Killzone 2 and every other FPS is labeled as "action". If you want don't to call Uncharted a third person shooter and just call it an "action" game we might as well start calling every single FPS an "action" game rather than "FPS.
Your thoughts on the issue?

The fact you do more than just shoot means it isn't a shooter. It is an action adventure game. A third person shooter is the same gameplay as a first person shooter only set in the third person. FPS are nothing but hours of explosions and shooting. Third person shooters are games like Socom and Gears of War...good games but all you do is shoot everything that moves. Just having guns and shooting in a game isn't what make it a "shooter". If it was, then 99% of every game ever to come out were shooters. Twisted Metal could be called a shooter. Tomb Raider. Hell, Assasin's Creed and Silent Hill could be called a third person shooter then.
Typically "action/adventure" games are used to refer to games like Tomb Raider, Uncharted, etc. Games that have shooting, but also contain exploration, puzzle solving, climbing around on walls, etc. "Action" games typically refer to pure action games with little of those other things, like God of War and Ninja Gaiden.
BUt who cares, really, about what label a game falls under. If it is a good game, that is all that should matter.
p.s. Who has ever called or labelledKillzone an action game? Everyone and their grandma calls it what it is...and FPS.
