It's old school type of online play. Set your prefs for a game, search through the list of servers and select one to join. Weapons are picked up on the map (you start with a pistol). The jumping works really well when you get used to it, you have a double jump. You can play dead which is fun when you can figure it out. I've found it incredibly fun, but I'm also pretty good at it. So, when you get better at it, it's a ton of fun yes.
Yea, UT3 is a ton of fun. It has good old deathmatch modes and capture the flag, and it also has a cool mode called Warfare. If you played UT 2004 it is the same as Onslaught mode. It is basically a territories game, but with all the Unreal stuff. Also, I personally just love Unreal games.

I don't know if you knew or not, but you can also jump off of walls. Like rebound off of them when you fly into them.
