Upon first play I wasen't that big of a fan of the demo. A few of my expectations were let down, mainly the lack of more in game cinematics which I'm sure are terrifying and a somewhat complex control schema. I was also a bit disappointed at the context sensitive action sequence taking away from ... well the action.
Second play it actually impressed me a bit more. I spent some time and figured out the 3 characters attacks a lot better. Playing thru the beginning with each different character is a must. Some characters are better at certain types of fighting vs others and after a few play throughs, I began to pick which character would be better for the size of the room. The game play improved significantly.
I found playing as Billie to be my favorite as she can just run towards the enemy and use her "stun" power to immobilize them so you can cut them down. I also figured out its much easier to use her sword if you just hold down L2 instead of mashing it.
Finally the last room which gave me so many problems originally because the developers made it extremely difficult to see where exactly enemies came from made more sense once I found a courner and looked around. I think they want the character to back into courners in terror on purpose so the gameplay would seen more intense. My only wish is that they made it a bit more obvious where damage was coming from (such as a red splash halo with directional arrow).
Altogether I see this has having a lot of potential. My main concerns are that it recieves a solid story (which it seems to by the introduction), more scary elements, more cinematic cut scenes, and an intituative way to learn the strengths of each indivdual character so it becomes second nature knowing when to switch characters.
