I'm sure the last thing everyone here needs is another newb's opinion. But hey, good sales means lots of newbs right? And right now PS3 is on a roll.

Been using a 360since a few months after that console's launch. I took the opportunity of Blu-Ray's victory as anexcuse to buy a PS3.

My opinion after a couple of weeks:

Hardware: Winner = PS3 Game Performance: Winner = 360

The PS3 hardware feels and looks like a $400+ device. Seems like a high-end piece of equipment. Watching a blu-ray movie confirms this. The love affair has begun. Compare this to the cheap looking and shortcut riddled 360 and look and feel goes to PS3. Quieter too.

Controller - getting used to dualshock. Prefer the weight of 360 controller. Tactile feel of the dualshock is certainly nice.

PS3 DVD Drive - No tray, quiet, blu-ray!

PS3 - No power brick

PS3 - Not ugly

PS3 - User upgradeable hard drive!

So far I much prefer the PS3 to the 360 except as a game console.

Programming the PS3 to utilize it's power requires more effort apparently. Many early multi-platform titles were poor ports that didn't take advantage of the PS3 hardware.

So, here we are more than a year after launch and too many reviewsstillsay something like"gameplay is identical between 360 and PS3. There is a little slowdown on the PS3 version however". And this is on new 2008 releases. Of course MGS4 looks mind blowing and shows what is possible. Wish this were the norm. GT5 looks beautiful. COD4 is not bad either.

Comparing RSV2 on my 360 and PS3 from identical locations in the game, the PS3 has lower frame rates at times. Not all the time and not enough to affect game play.

My only disappointment so far: How much longer will we have to wait before a higher percentage of titles feel like they are running on the most powerful console? Instead of a port?

Today I bought GTA4 for the PS3. So, you can see how I'm voting with my wallet. Ready for software that takes advantage of the hardware. How long will it take? Are dual platform games doomed to be poor ports? Will PS3 exclusives be the only ones to take advantage of the hardware?

Loving my PS3. Thanks for listening.

I wouldn't say the 360 is ugly, but the PS3 is definitely sexier. Then again, I've never seen a 360 Elite in person.

I like both my systems equally but I play my 360 online most.

Currently playing The Darkness on my PS3 though, just bought that and Lair earlier today after I got paid. 2 Games in 1 day, that doesnt happen unless its Christmas or my birthday :D

I think they both look good but I think the PS3 is definately more sleek looking. I have an Elite, and a Black PS3 and Black PS2 and a Black tv and a Black tv stand and the only bad thing when it comes to the look of my setup is that I have 3 cats and a dog so the pet hair shows up super easily. I have to vacum atleast twice a week.

Heck I don't even of have an Xbox, but I'd dang well sure play online more often if I was pitching $30+/mos for it. After all if I'm playing for my internet twice, I better be getting my money's worth.

you know i find it silly when people complain about 1st gen PS3 games looking ugly ect. remember 1st year 360 games? even the game mags like EGM stated that thay were not impressed and that some of the game looked like thay could be done on Xbox.

Now games look allmost the same on xbox and ps3 dispite devs haveing a years worth more exp programing for it. look at the new games. MGS4,fallout3,bioshock,resistence 2,killzone 2 ect. heck compair GT5 to forza. Devs are starting to work some magic.

Opps, bad informat...blame them lol. ^-^, Still, I don't see the point of paying for something that's included in the game. I mean you don't have to pay for the Metal Gear games that are included in MGS3 Subsistence, so why should you have to pay for add ons with 360. Bill Gates is just being a tad too greedy.

[Edited] To make it more clear, I'm not reffering to the extra's that you have to purchase. I find it redundant that you have to pay to access a function that's already included in the game that I've initially purchased. IE: GTA4, comes with an Online function, and 360 users must pay for online connection to access this function.....-_-[Edited]

I dont mind paying for online. I think its a great service and if I have to pay $50-$60, then Ill do it. Although I kinda agree with you that nobody should have to pay for something included in the game.

It doesn't matter how well developers learn the PS3's architecture, their not gonna make one version of game superior to another they will closely identical. Everyone's happier and developers don't get a bad wrap. So we can only count on exclusives to define a system.

Just read the Nascar 09 review on ign. The reviewer said when comparing the PS3 version with the 360 version, "experienced graphics issues on the PS3 version that were not as noticeable on the 360 version". This is not a direct quote, read it yourself for that, but you get the point.

I like when reviewers make the comparison. Having both next-gen consoles, I want to know which platform is better for a particular title.

Still, loving the PS3 though. It's the one I would recommend to friends today, on balance. It's the one I will be buying as a gift for my Nephew's 16th birthday come September.

PS3 occasionally trails in graphics and online play. I say occasionally, because there are titles on PS3 that demonstrate what is possible. Thinking MGS4 and GT5.

Keep in mind we are talking about minute differences in most cases where there is a difference. If I could only choose one it would be PS3. So, if any criticism of your chosen console hurts your feelings. Relax we are nitpicking. I understand how after dropping this much cash one can get attached to the gear. I do as well.

Of the titles I have on both platforms (RSV2, COD4) you will not notice a difference in enjoyment concerning gameplay. As mentioned before RSV2 is *slightly* slower on PS3. But not enough to harm the end result: gameplay. I haven't noticed any difference between COD4 on the two platforms. Keep in mind I'm not doing side by sides *looking* for differences. In the case of RSV2 it was noticeable without much effort.

Developers should be rewarded when they do the job right.

Thanks for tolerating my opinion. Enjoy.
