Just bought my PS3. Games?

Hey all,

proud new owner of a ps3, couldn't force friends to watch me pc game nemore. I bought another controller and call of duty. got the crummy motorstorm that has no freakin multiplayer offline :thumbsdown

I would like a game that has really nice split screen multiplayer, preferably co-op.

But am takin all suggestions...

so, what does the fanbase recommend?

Haze is coming out january 15th. Its a ways off but it has 4 player splitscreen single player and multiplayer.

But warhawk is has offline split screen. just create a local game but that would be a bit boring in my opinion. 2 people on one of those huge maps. Just join a server that allows for split screen.

As of yet I am not using it online. I actually dont have cable, dont care about tv and I use the internet at work w/ a portable hdd.

I will probably be getting my internet connection up in my apt by next month tho.

Resistance seems good, but I didn't get it because I wanted some newer games that really show off the hardware.

Keep em comin.... remember, mp is key. FPS usually goes to my PC.

how would you compare resistance to gears?

Would you say if two people have destroyed gears, they would want to play resistance still?

I could list over 20 games that are each worth buying and enjoying, but that wouldn't really satisfy you anyway, so stop trolling and start researching ;)

I would definately choose Fight Night. That game is pretty fun to go toe to toe with your friends. Once you both learn the controls and the better combos, you'll really have a fight on your hands. You can do the traditional view of boxing in a video game (see both people in third person perspective) or you can even go at it in a splitscreen first person view (you see your oponent infront of you, and all you can see of yourself is your hands for throwing punches and blocking.) The first person perspective is harder, but once you get used to it, it's a lot of fun to play in.Then on your own time, you can go online against other people when your buddies aren't around. I would definitely recommend Fight Night.

I have done lotsa research. I actually have a game or 2 in mind. BUT HEY, how about I ask people that may own one or more of the titles i am thinking about. THATS CLEVER.

uncharted defintely seems like a game i should have. Resistance I just feel like I missed the boat on that game. Correct me if you think im wrong, but i feel like if you played gears, you dont absolutely have to play resistance and vice versa.

I just can't believe motorstorm doesnt have split screen. it made me check all my prefs on this thread!

Tiger Woods because I like golf and the Tiger Woods games always last a while if you don't sim. The graphics on 08 are great.

thanks for the input. i really enjoy tiger games as well. My buddies and i just put down a copy of '03 or something, from ps2. It was the best version i ever played.

It's been a while since i've been in a consule forum discussing games I want to buy. Love the way a console polarizes your opinions, really develops a community lol.

Yes I would say round 3 is a sufficient step up from the previous installments to warrant a buy. Plus it only runs for about $30 now, making it a pretty good buy.

My "A" list.

Resistance - I still play it. I think it's a great game single player (and you can play the single player mission in co-op mode)

Ratchet & Clank - Very awesome. Still playing it. Graphics, gameplay, hell yeah.

Uncharted - Love the graphics and the gameplay. The taking cover stuff takes some getting used to but it's a very awesome game. I'm playing it again.

Rock Band - If you're not into these types of games, don't bother, but it's amazingly fun if you like music games.

My "B" list.

Folklore - I thought this game was awesome.

Virtua Fighter - Fun fighting game

Motorstorm - I know you have this one. This is almost in my C list, but there are some good redeeming qualities.

My "C" list.

Assassin's Creed - Almost "D" list. If you can get over the bugs and the crappy frame-rate, and somewhat sloppy controls, there is a pretty good game in there.

Warhawk - Contrary to others, this wasn't really my favorite game in the whole world, but it is very fun in short bursts.
