uh, what?
A 1080p TV makes almost no difference with the PS3 because it automatically downscales to the game's native resolution, with 98% of the time is 720p. Does your TV do 720p?TheSystemLord1
Well I do have 3 or so games in full 1080p? So your saying that dont matter? I know intill you get up to 40 inches its kinda hard to tell. But still, 1080p to 720 Is almost the same difference as 420p to 720p. Outside of the line counting BS. I would say 30 inches is where it makes a difference. And more so the larger you get.

No, actually it doesn't, none of the PS3's major showcase games are in 1080p. Who cares if NBA 2007 or something is in 1080p? Even at that resolution, the games that have 1080p capability look almost no different than the 720p games. That is the case throughout this gen. In order to have games running at that resolution effects must be sacrificed. And once developers realized how bland their games looked at 1080p, they settled right back into 720p.

1080p is good for movies. Not games just yet. Maybe next gen, just maybe. But for right now 720p is the gaming resolution.

I think it works for like simple games well. Like Tennis and bowling. Or say even a ski game.
But I agree also. That with the power in that thing "that no one is really sure about yet??." I would rather see it used to push out alot on screen at 720. And not use half that up pushing 1080p out. They say to capture HD into a computer. Ala a capture card. It takes a gig a second to do. Thats alot of work. Compared to compressing it to another format or definition. So im guessing??? For a game to push out 1080p in true form. It takes alot of work for the machine. And im not sure what it takes away from. But im guessing they can get alot more out of it at lower definitions.
