just went to gamestop today, and add in another game to my collection - skate, im not really much a skateboard fan, but this game is really underrated, doing your tricks with your right analog stick, havent played online yet, only about 20 minutes, i f'n love this game, how in the hell this got a 7.0 :lol:, even if you not a big fan of skateboard, you owe to yourself to check this one out, just my piece :D, this is going to put the tony hawk series to rest,)

I don't skate either and I also love this game .. so incredibly fun.
I don't think it will put Tony Hawk to rest but I personally believe it's light year ahead of Tony Hawk .. you'll always have your Tony Hawk arcadish style lovers ..
I borrowed a friends copy of Skate to see if I should buy a copy. The horrible frame rate was enough to make me give the game back the next day and never consider looking at it again. It got the score it deserved.

The fact that skate is better than the tony hawk games shows how bad the TH series has become, rather than how good skate is. What happenned to the good old THPS2 days?:(

ive been a fan of tony hawks since the very first one but after T.H.U.G it went downhill so fast. i downloaded the demo of skate and loved it. its so good cus its realisitic and different. Anyone played the tony hawks proving ground game? its terrible.
Yer skate is an awesome game althought it outsold tony hawk proving grounds i think tony hawk 10 with be evenly matched unless skate 2 comes out with something even newer than before
I agree SKATE is a great game but it took me a bit of time to get used to the camera and controls, but it won't put tony hawk to rest there will always be a wide variety of gamers wanting their arcade fix.

I don't see how it deserves 7.0 when its only flaw is its frame rate. It's gameplay is fantastic the open city to skate is great, it has great skaters in it (Chris Cole). I don't understand why it only got a 7.0 the frame rate would have to be far worse for it to get a score that low.
its fantastic, having playing every tony hawk game (on almost every console) to date i can easily say that skate is the best skateboarding game since THPS2.

I couldn't get past the controls, I understand the realism of it and all but I tried doing a certain trick in the tutorial for an hour and I still could not get it. I am not saying it's bad just not my thing. Tony hawk was cool under the original "Pro Skater" name and then it became stupid. Even 4 was not that great. finding people to talk to in order to find out what to do was rather annoying and the mini competitions weren't anywhere near as cool as the full level ones in the older games. Half the time I would have to start over because when doing a trick I landed out of bounds of the competition.
I just picked it up after playing the demo. The demo was amazing. I'm no skater boi and this is the first skater i've picked up since Tony Hawk on the PS1... Can't wait to play it ;) Everyone should get on this ;)
Damn i still have to buy this game dude. Ive played the demo but not the real game.Ive skated for like 4 years in past.And this game iz as real as it gets to see how it really feels to skate.

The push button thing to do tricks is so getting last generation. Or it is last generation.
dude- play it on 360 and then come back and tell me they didnt totally suck at making the ps3 vesion. i returned my copy almost immediately because of how crappy it looked it comparison to the 360 version (longer loading, really bad frame rates, all the graphics looks washed out and blurry etc)
dont get me wrong its a cool game, go read my review on it. its just that theres no friggin walking and the pace of the gameplay is quite boring. skating to different places for new objectives got so beat- hopefully they do something with a cell phone like in gta4 for the next game
btw- i still think tony hawk games are more fun, because they are way more arcade like and you can walk and do as many insane combos as you can. skate is more of a sim
