Cant wait to get one but I have 2 questions.
1. Why have the White (or other color consoles) never come out in the US?
2. How come it takes so long for them to launch stuff like the DS3 in the US? I mean I kinda understand how Sony is a Japanese company, and it will also allow for needed imporvements. But at the same time you would think it be easier and make more sense to release it worldwide all at once.
why is everything on the controller backwards?damedude123
A mirror image, dur. Didn't you notice the letters are backwards, reflected? Wow.
was the pic taken in the mirror the dual shock 3 is backwards the ^OXsquare on the left side O_omerch
yah i know it does not make sense that its backwards like that unless its a mirror but it does not look to be
was the pic taken in the mirror the dual shock 3 is backwards the ^OXsquare on the left side O_omerchI noticed that also. Anyway, good job on the purchase!
Good news. I'm glad that they made some noticeable improvements. I also like my controller to be heavy.
Sounds great! I can't wait for it, I can't believe we have to wait till next year for north america.LtColJaxsonSame here-in UK
Im an American living in Japan. With a U.S PS3. That much being said on to the topic.
I just got my dual shock 3 tonight on 11/11 the day of its release in Japan. It should be coming out in the U.S and Europe around Feb of next year. This also coincides with the release of firmware 2.0 which added some new features.
I decided to get the Ceramic White version. The U.S wont be getting white. Also I noticed the White 40gb PS3.. (its very pretty *cries*)
So I opened it up and was greated with both the DS3 letering and Six-axis name. Looks like they decided not to ditch the six-axis name all together.I emiditatly noticed the weight difference between it and the normal Six-axis. Id say probably twice the weight. And actually welcome to me. I like some heft in my controlers. It also feels good to squeeze in my hand when ive **** up. Im not the type to throw them. Then I decided to dust off my Dual Shock 2 and compare the weight with that.DS3 was still abit heavyer I noticed. Good sign, because that means it does infact have the new rumble parts that have been hyped about it.
Now for the test drive. I decided to play the Uncharted Demo ive beaten about 4 times now. To much suprise and comfort the controler reacted brilliantly to the game.It indead has a new type of rumble that has a "souround sound" quality to it. It doesnt feel like a bunch of weights spining around inside. Instead for example when you shoot, the upper half of the controller vibrates. When you jump onto a ledge, the bottom of it shakes. When you get shot, the sides shake. Then it did something game specific, when the characters heart beats during an intense conflict the controller thumps like a heart. Mele combos also had a nice rythm to it with the punches that landed.
Also when I used the motion control to balance the character walking across a ledge it felt eaiser and more resposive. Could they have improved its motion feature also? Or is the added weight a factor? Maybe ive just played the game enough to be good at it.
I also tried a few other games like Ratchet and Clank:Future and Gran Turismo 5:Prologue. Also very responsive and satisfying.
I wouldnt call the DS3 earth shatering, but its definitly the best rumble experience ive had with a controller to date. :)MrShenmue
