Just opened one up....

I just got one of these for $300 (80gb) brand new, and was totally dissapointed. Don't get me wrong, the system is a beauty compared to my Xbox360, but I mean, no HD component cable's??? I gues I have to wait till tomorrow and buy and hdmi

No, it's cool. Actually, when I first bought my 360 I was a little overwhelmed to tell you the truth. I'll even say I was confused, but it took me like 10 minutes to figure everything out. Yeah, it sucks that you need batteries for the 360 controller but i guess some things make up for others.

Both consoles have their pros and cons. I'm just really stoked about this damn sexy PS3!!!

I owned a 360 as well but knew the PS3 didn't come with one and it didn't bother me at all cause at the time I couldn't use it anyway. I know it was an oversight on his part but to write the system off because of the pack-in cable...well...that's a bit ludicrous.

How is what anyone you quoted; trolling? For EVERY console I've owned I would have changed at least one thing about it. Why are you getting pissed because someone wanted their ps3 to come with HDMI cables? I was disappointed as well, but knew beforehand so I picked up an HDMI cable. Trolling??? I own a PS3, Xbox 360, and a Wii. All I was saying is I understand the posters thoughts, and didn't think he deserved the crap he was getting. I was just saying I see his point of view, and nothing more. I love my PS3 (and my Xbox 360)....the Wii.....not so much.

Again, the assumption doesn't justify the criticism. The HD display adoption rate at the time of launch, and even to this day, doesn't logically equate to the inclusion of an HDMI cable. The cable doesn't make the PS3 HD, it IS an HD system. It plays media created with HD resolutions and audio. I don't see many complaining about the lack of an optical cable. Heck lots of HTIB's with optical don't come with the cable. If there's anything to complain about it's the number of consumers educating themselves before purchasing.

I bought the 20g back when they first came out, and the cable was supplied. Didn't realize the newer models aren't coming with the cable. It'll be worth it once you get it, though. Congrats on the purchase!

There's a FAQ thread at the top of the page since forever and the official playstation site has all the hardcore facts and specs related to hardware in a nice model comparison layout. I don't mind answering the same questions over and over, but if it's constructed a certain way ya have to wonder. That aside, it's just a cable. I upgraded all my systems last gen with S-Video cables cause they didn't come with one and I wasn't disappointed once when opening the box. Heck those cables were more expensive than the HDMI's that are available now.
