After a huge letdown of my PS3 being defective out of the box, Amazon got my replacement to me today (really good turnaround time, btw), and I am LOVING it!

I've never had a console with so much potential, it's really exciting, I love being able to download demos for free (wonderful idea, good for developers AND gamers alike), although it took forever for the Heavenly Sword download, lol... ended way too fast.

I love how well everything on the PS3 seems to work together, so much smoother than my Wii.... Like syncing contollers. it's SO simple on PS3, plug it in, press a button... but on my Wii it's always a struggle to get the 4 sync buttons to be pressed at just the right time so that the other red button on the console does something right and.... well, it's a lot of trial and error it seems.

Sorry for rambling, I'm just really happy to finally have my baby ^_^ I've got a ton of old PS1 and PS2 games to play now since my PS2 just gave up on me several months ago, and I have to say... MGS 1 is pretty tough, lol! died so many times tonight trying to get into the groove of it. But everything's going well, and I can't wait to see you all online in Warhawk, as that's the next game on my list!

congratulations man. I already own a PS3, but was thinking about picking up a Wii, what do you think? I was thinking I can get my wife into video gaming a little bit.

I got my Wii the first day it came out (camped out the night before with an old bud of mine, had a blast), got Zelda for it, loved it, but since zelda, the only game that kept my interest was Resident Evil 4(I had never played it for PS2). The new controls made it extremely fun, and the game itself just blew me away, but as far as originals for the Wii, I'm not impressed yet.

When I bought it, I had two things in mind: Zelda and Smash Bros. Those 2 franchises (and the price tag) were enough to convince me over another console, but in this dry spell before smash bros comes out, I've just been really tired of it.

On the other hand, my family (all 25+ non-gamers) have had many good times with Wii Sports, my mom kicked my tail in boxing, lol.

If you think your wife would be receptive to something new, I definitely think you could win her over to at least understanding video games better, that they're just fun. For me, though, I can't stand mini-game compilations thrown together and put on a shelf for 50 dollars... I feel that with a couple of months of fiddling around with the system I could develop something just as good... I take my games as investments, and all the Wii products out right now feel really gimmicky to me.

With the PS3 for the immersive experience and solo gameplay, and the Wii for the upcoming online Smash Bros though, I'm finally in a happy equilibrium, haha, I should be set now for many years to come.

Try to find a friend who has a Wii (it honestly isn't that hard these days) and just give it a go. I have Zelda, Far Cry(one of the worst games i've ever played.... I just can't force myself to beat it), Madden(really REALLY fun and different), and Resident Evil, but I can't really see anything else the console has to offer yet. Hopefully Metroid will show that the Wii actually CAN do a shooter right.

Good luck with your decision though =D
