I have no issues with controls and I have pretty much played First Person Shooter games since Wolfenstein on my floppy diskette.
There is nothing wrong with Killzone 2 controls, it just doesn't support auto-aim exploits like other shooters do including COD4.
For the record, the controls had been adjusted even further for those people who had complains, not that it needed it but I still do as good as I did before. ;)
Yeah they need some work..
some work? they need to be completely redone, as they are very flawed imo. when aiming at a target becomes a hassle, you know something's wrong. oh, and input lag doesn't help things either. turn up the sensitivity[QUOTE="Doolz2024"][QUOTE="Unknown_Hero3"]some work? they need to be completely redone, as they are very flawed imo. when aiming at a target becomes a hassle, you know something's wrong. oh, and input lag doesn't help things either. turn up the sensitivity doesn't help. talk to most anyone that hates kz2's controls and they'll tell you it doesn't help.Yeah they need some work..

i never understood what was wrong with the controls, they feel much better then ny other fps i played
I think they make it unique, I like the weighted feel and no auto aim... However, I wish the melee were faster and more like (dear god, am I about to say this?) Halo. Sensitivity can be adjusted.mjk_1Cod4's knifing is the best imo...even KZ2 couldn't get that right unfortunately. :( C'mon, i mean having to press right on the dpad, THEN R1 (Or whatever button you use to shoot) just to knife? :x
I love the controls for this game... I love how so many people think they can just pick this game up and get every shot as a headshot because they were okay at Halo... The Aiming is not broken, I have no problem taken down all the crying nubs that think it is because I understand that this game is not Halo and its not Call of Duty...W1ckedGo0sesome people just refuse to accept the fact that something IS wrong w/ the controls. and correct me if i'm wrong, but if so many people are complaining about the controls, then something must not be right. sure, anyone with enough skill can get used to something different if they play long enough, i did after quite a while of playing, but tbh, it shouldn't be like that. it shouldn't be a frustrating experience just trying to adjust to new controls. yeah there's gonna be a learning curve with almost any game, but it shouldn't take constant adjustments just to find a sensitivity setting that feels most comfortable. again input lag doesn't help either...

It's not a "fact" that there's something wrong with the controls, it's just that different people have had different experiences with them. Hell, I was used to them after a single play through of the demo and thought it felt great. I even use the default sensitivity. Some people like how they are, others don't, but that doesn't mean there's something wrong.
[QUOTE="Doolz2024"] some people just refuse to accept the fact that something IS wrong w/ the controls.RandolphScottYou refuse to accept the fact that this is indeed, not a fact at all. It's your opinion. Input lag is no opinion....it's there whether you or anyone else wants to believe it. go play waw, cod4, halo, R2, etc... no input lag is present. go back to kz2, and yeah, it's there.
I am tired of people saying the controls need work, they are fine. I have no problems with them, honestly at first they seemed strange but after a few hours I got used to it. in fact i personally prefer em com paired 2 other fps controls
no its not the control layout that bothers me. i use the default scheme. the problem is the lack of responsiveness when you press a button, or move the analog sticks. the input lag simply keeps me from thoroughly enjoying this game, and believe it or not i think its a good game, but the unresponsive controls are what ultimately keep the game from being great. my understanding is that GG wanted the game to have a "weighty" heavy feel to it, which is supposed to be realistic. why worry about that, it's just a game. they should've worried less about realism, and more about responsive controls. i dont know about everyone else but i'll take perfect, responsive controls like cod4 and WaW have anytime over a supposedly more realistic experience. If you don't like the controls change them to alternate 2

For the original controls, I feel that it is like Call Of Duty 4. But thats just my opinion and I'm sure that many people would disagree.
KZ2 controls were designed to be this way. It wasn't a matter of a lack of tuning, it was as designed. To complain about them now and say they should be more like COD4 or whatever is like someone saying the Virtua Fighter should play more like Tekken.beekayjaythe controls have been a complaint of many (including myself) since the demo became available in early february. you talk like this is a minor problem that's just been brought up for the first time... :|

Maybe if they had spent more money coding it efficiently or tone down post-processing effects for online, I'd actually play a 32 player game without dropping to -256 FPS. I'm pretty sure the priority of post-processing has something to do with the horrible, horrible aiming system.
My problem with the controls is either a person is crap because they try to actually aim, or they're good because they strafe ALL THE TIME...it's like I could praise the controlls just because I'm not bad with them, but that's ignoring the fact that essentially I'm playing this game like it's a side-scrolling shooter.

After putting in 80 hours online with Kz2, I recently put cod4 in and its controls feel dull now. Well actually that whole game feels dull and outdate seriously now after playing KZ2. So as far as I'm concerned the controls in KZ2 is right on. People just don't understand that you've got to practice and play the game to be good. Heck priro to release I played the demo about 50 times to get use to the controls, but one you understand them and understand the gameplay in KZ2 and its MP you can wreak some havoc and its purely awesome when you do, unlike other games.

yeah it doesnt help at all, well for me anyways, its way to fast.

In KZ2 the knife is another weapon and the melee is a different animation. But you cant compare COD4's melee to KZ2 knife. The controls are fine. I can understand where people are coming from though, but people should try going in without expecting COD4 etc.
Once I found out that I could have a control scheme that was almost identical to COD, my troubles were over. I don't understand the problems everyone's having with the controls in this game.
The only problem I have with the controls is it's really hard switching back to Killzone 2 after playing any other FPS like COD4 or Resistance 2. The more you push the stick over the faster the gun moves which is fine for singleplayer because it immerses you more and makes you feel like your actual aiming a gun. But, when it comes time for multiplayer it can be quite frustrating especially when trying to hit a moving target, it's damn near impossible to kill anyone while they're sprinting unlike COD4. I like the controls are merely the case of the developers opting for realism over responsive gameplay. I don't know about some of you but I play games for fun and enjoyment, not to be bombarded with realistic constraints.
I think the problem is less about the layout of the inputs for the controller, and more about aiming. Most of you here are spouting out how 1337 you are at this game and how you have these controls down like no one else, or how CoD4 aiming is outdated or whatever, but you're ignoring what is being said. I bought this game, played a little single player and then jumped into multiplayer. When it comes to shooting people online and that portion of the game, it plays fine. But I've recently gotten back into the single player game and I see the big design choice in the aiming that is making the game hard because I can't get my reticle onto the actual target itself.
It's not a matter of opinion, it's fact. There is a DELAY from when you move the right stick to aim and when your character actually aims. This makes it difficult to make little precise movements and adjustments when need be. Unlike CoD4 or whatever you want to compare this game to, KZ2 has a response lag between user input and actual action taken on screen. This isn't a game breaking thing, it just makes it harder to make little tiny adjustments while aiming. Sure, I'm sure some of you "know what" you're doing and have it down to a science, or the game is going realistic by having a DELAY between input and action. Is your character an idiot or something? Even if it was heavy, it shouldn't take a half second or whatever the lag is to move after making an input.
Don't get me wrong, I love this game. I'm not too bad at it online and I enjoy it. This is mostly a single player problem for me, because online I have no problems aiming and killing someone. Also, don't say change the sensitivity because that doesn't get rid of the lag.
